Pink Tutu Time Travels: March 2041, Blog Post No. 1455!

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to another fabulous episode of Pink Tutu Time Travels! I’m your host, Emma, the Derbyshire-born, ballet-obsessed, pink-tutu-loving time traveller extraordinaire, back to dazzle you with yet another blast from the past! This month, we’re jetting all the way to… drumroll intensifies… MARCH 2041!!!

The World of Drag, 2041 Style!

I've been scouring the internet (yes, they still have that, darling) for what the drag scene was all about back in 2041, and oh my sweet darlings, it's pure sparkle. Apparently, there's a global drag-mania sweeping the world, with incredible, diverse talent shining on stages from New York City to Tokyo, and of course, a blossoming drag scene here in my dear Derbyshire. Imagine my joy when I found an entire theatre devoted to drag shows, right here in Matlock Bath! It’s called ‘The Flutter’, how chic is that?! I do hope it’s still there – a little bird tells me a few years after 2041, that year had quite a lot of chaos. Anyway,

My little pink tutu whispers that a fierce queen named "Scarlet O’Hara" (oh darling, I know right?! So 2041) was a headline act at "The Flutter", and they’re known for a drag cabaret inspired by Shakespearean comedy. What’s that about?! But before you think it's some sort of drag version of Shakespeare's play "The Comedy of Errors" (oh, the hilarity), apparently this drag cabaret was full of slapstick routines, sassy drag banter, and Shakespearean inspired makeup - talk about camp, hun!

There was a new, hot musical called "The Glittering Shoes" opening in 2041 that year in the West End, and guess what? They’re incorporating Drag into the production! Now that's something I would have LOVED to see, imagine the sequins! There's another massive global festival dedicated to the beauty and the artistry of drag performances - imagine! – in a place called Berlin! It’s called "Glitter Fest", with everything from glamorous couture and ballroom drag to the incredible avant-garde styles we adore today.

Honestly, my darlings, the 2041 scene was really living its best life! Drag has truly reached new heights with their embrace of different artistic forms like musical theatre, film and fashion! It’s truly magical how drag has evolved, embraced all walks of life, and broken down barriers through self-expression. This makes a little pink tutu-wearing drag history fanatic like me so proud!!

A Time Travelling Fashion Spree!

Now let's talk about the fashion my dears. In March 2041, the runway was literally ablaze with some epic looks. You know those feather boa collars you all love? Well, apparently those are totally trending in 2041! They’re going crazy over them, you can get them in every color imaginable, but obviously, my absolute favorite color is… you guessed it – PINK! My little time machine tutu even whispered that they’re totally going for oversized puffy sleeves that year, imagine that? But, of course, all that puff needs to be accentuated with an extra-wide sparkly belt. Don’t you just love a cinched waist with the illusion of those long, lovely, elegant, gorgeous legs?! And the colours! So many delicious colors like coral, lemon, sky blue, and a whole lot of sparkle!

Remember that fabulous trend I told you all about from 1980, the sequin headbands? Well, in 2041 they made a comeback with bigger, bolder designs! The 2041 world clearly embraces a touch of vintage fashion – which I am totally here for, darling. There's something special about classic fashion pieces that we can re-imagine in modern times.

The Magic of Drag

What truly captures my imagination, though, is not the fashion, darling – it's the artistry, the creativity, the bravery of those amazing Drag performers! Drag in 2041, they told me, was becoming more than just a performance - it was a global movement ! Drag Queens and Drag Kings are showing the world that self-expression has no boundaries! They are changing the world one performance, one shimmering sequin, one sparkling strut, and one glorious lip sync at a time.

*It’s a privilege to *time-travel with you, my darlings, to witness this magnificent transformation of the drag scene – it’s truly amazing how much our drag families have achieved together. And, let me tell you, this journey wouldn’t be complete without my time travelling pink tutu! I cannot stress enough: everyone needs a pink tutu in their lives. It's like a passport to another world. It’s like a a gateway to the magic and the beauty of Drag, baby!!

Until next month, my loves, keep strutting, keep shining, and remember, wear your pink tutu with pride!*

XOXO Emma (aka your favorite Derbyshire drag queen & time traveler)
