Hello, darlings! Emma here, back with another instalment of your favourite monthly dose of #DragQueenHistory! I've got a hot pink glitter bomb of a tale to tell you this month, and it's one that takes us right to the heart of 2042! Oh, the glittery possibilities!
This time, my magical pink tutu has whisked me right to November of 2042! And I must say, the year 2042 is living up to the fabulous reputation!
Pink Perfection, Onward and Upward!
As I floated into the year 2042, the first thing that struck me was the sheer number of tutus! Like, literally, EVERYONE was rocking some form of tulle. You could say the whole world was wearing a tutu â if they were feeling brave, a hot pink one! From school children to CEOs, to the folks walking their furry friends, this was tutu-licious times.
Drag & Glam In the 21st Century:
Now, letâs get down to the real meat and potatoes! Drag in 2042 is absolutely roaring! The scene is electric and I feel like the world has finally embraced drag in all its glory! Drag queens are not just performers â they're politicians, scientists, teachers, and everything in between. This makes my pink heart flutter with glee! Itâs such a positive change from the 20th century! I've gotta say, this futuristic, fabulous world really gets me. Itâs everything we've ever dreamt of and more!
Where The Action Was in 2042
Oh, how I loved experiencing the world of drag in 2042! First, I took a trip to Drag Metropolis in New York City! Now this, my dears, is the kind of drag extravaganza we dream about! Youâve got massive digital drag billboards all over, high-rise venues hosting Drag Olympics, drag salons dedicated to rainbow hair, makeup, and glitter â all this was a true sensory explosion for this Derbyshire girl!
And letâs not forget about DragFest, held in fabulous Tokyo this month. This celebration of drag is absolutely legendary, bringing together drag artists from all corners of the globe. Imagine - digital projections of legendary queens like Divine, RuPaul, Bianca del Rio, and, of course, me, twirling around in my hot pink tutu. Imagine, my lovelies, all this glitter and spectacle in real life! And of course, the live performances, the fashion, the creativity⌠the list goes on and on.
Drag and Technology â A Dream Collaboration!
Another exciting aspect of 2042 drag was the way technology had intertwined with drag. I saw some utterly dazzling shows incorporating augmented reality. One was called âCosmic Queensâ and featured a whole galaxy of digitally generated drag queens with out of this world fashions, complete with real-time, glowing pink tutus - thatâs me in the background, by the way, if you can see me!
Another big trend, thatâs going down a storm, is âVirtual Drag.â Itâs the real deal, my loves! The drag queens perform live in a VR studio that you can see on gigantic screens at the theater! Now, thatâs drag like youâve never seen it!
Drag Royalty & Fashion Kings
Who ruled the scene in 2042? Well, letâs just say Iâm a tad bit obsessed with the Drag House of Radiance, from New Orleans. They have this whole vibe - like itâs a family, supporting each other and it shows! Itâs super glamorous, darling, and every single queen in this house, can really werk it, my lovelies!
In the world of Drag fashion, it was the Drag-Glama-Glamour collection by drag queen turned fashion designer, Sir Nigel Bling â that everyone was wearing. Heâs a little dramatic, in the best possible way! Sir Nigel, designed for that show âCosmic Queensâ and he absolutely nailed it. He knows the art of mixing avant-garde and fashion - and adding in some sparkly hot pink tutus to keep everything extra glamorous!
The Final Word
My dears, you just canât get a pink-tutu-tastic drag experience like this, until you actually live it! Oh, if only my magical pink tutu could transport everyone into this wondrous, futuristic world.
