Darling!
It’s Emma here, your pink-tutu-wearing, time-travelling drag queen extraordinaire, coming to you live from my fabulous Derbyshire studio! I'm absolutely thrilled to be here with you all today, as April has been a positively dazzling month in my time-travelling adventures, and let me tell you, dearies, the future is positively pink!
This month, my lovely pink tutu and I jetted back to 2044! Honestly, I must say, I’m so incredibly proud of how much drag has blossomed! Just imagine a world where the lines between drag and everyday fashion are practically blurred – that's where we were in 2044, darlings! It was absolutely sensational!
Imagine, every shop had a selection of tutus - they weren't just for ballet anymore, no no, every drag queen and every fashionista could express their inner diva! I spotted absolutely stunning outfits that put a modern twist on ballet classics, using dazzling neon colours, sparkling sequins and metallics! They even had glow-in-the-dark fabric - can you believe it? Imagine rocking a tutus made from that, my dears!
As usual, my biggest aim on these adventures is to get everyone embracing the tutu! You can’t wear enough, honestly, it's the most beautiful way to accentuate that hourglass figure! Imagine it, your fabulous pink tutu is practically the uniform in 2044, like a symbol of acceptance and celebration! It was incredible!
I caught a phenomenal drag performance at the Pink Flamingo club in San Francisco, it was just phenomenal. La La Lamour was dazzling in her custom pink feather tutu, absolutely serving runway goddess. She's the undisputed queen of "glimmer-tastic," let me tell you, with every twirl, every step, those feather accents on her skirt, absolutely magical!
It's not all about fashion, my darlings
Now, it's not all glitter and glam, darling, don't get me wrong! I had a blast checking out the exciting, futuristic performances they had going on. I even had the opportunity to interview a talented trans artist who is revolutionising how people see beauty, blurring those lines, with the help of special makeup, and interactive tech - it's phenomenal, absolutely revolutionary, my dears! I had to squeeze those beautiful custom pink sparkly stilettos on as I chatted with her about how the art of makeup can be used to really express and celebrate those true colours. Honestly, so inspiring!
And darling, if you think we're reaching for the stars in terms of inclusion and acceptance right now, just imagine how things are in 2044! It was truly heart-warming. You can see it in their faces, in their eyes, it was a shared experience, something everyone could celebrate.
But as with all things, we can’t forget the roots, the original drag performers that broke down walls, the legends who inspired us. I mean, it's those incredible queens like Divine, Judy Garland and RuPaul that got us to where we are today. We’ve gotta remember the ones that dared to dream bigger, who took the leap and walked in those shoes that we love so much today! They had the heart and soul, and you could really feel their presence, not just on the stage, but in the streets of every town.
It’s all about that journey, darlings!
Just a quick shout-out to everyone out there who's rocking a pink tutu! Remember, we're all on a journey, we’re all constantly evolving, learning and discovering who we truly are.
Oh, and darling, as you might have heard, it's almost time for our big charity drag ball! Every year, I hold a ball to support struggling young LGBTQ+ artists and drag performers, and this year it's even more special than usual, we're raising money for the “Tutu Empowerment Foundation,” a fantastic organization helping aspiring performers to get the necessary training, clothing and tools to launch their careers! It's going to be amazing, absolutely unforgettable, my dears. I even managed to find a vintage sequined, pink, time-traveling tutu just for the occasion - and I can’t wait to show it off!
Keep an eye out on the website for details! You don’t wanna miss it!
XOXO, Emma
