Hiya darlings, it's your fave Derbyshire gal, Emma, back for another serving of history served with a side of fabulous. This month's #DragQueenHistory journey takes us way, way, way into the future. That's right, babes, we're travelling to September 2044! π€― Buckle up, because this one is gonna be a sparkling, swirling extravaganza!
Welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things pink, fabulous, and a dash of time-travelling glitz! I've got my special edition time-traveling tutu, all sequined up and ready to shimmy. I'm a firm believer that the future needs some extra sass, so it's my duty to add a dash of glitter to history β pink tutu and all! π
Speaking of sparkle, this month's travel expenses were covered by a particularly memorable gig at the fabulous "Rainbow Rebellion" fundraiser for the local arts centre. Honestly, the support from the local community for drag is incredible. Itβs a total reminder that everyone can contribute to the future of fabulous. Now, that's something I can get behind! π
Anyway, enough about me! Itβs all about the glorious world of Drag Queen History. And oh, darlings, let me tell you, 2044 is one heck of a year!
Drag 2.0: A Whole New World πThis is the future, folks. Everythingβs bold and bolder. I'm talking AI drag personas, holographic stage sets that would make RuPaul blush, and drag performance academies popping up across the globe. π€― Iβve gotta say, Iβm thrilled with the dedication to the art form β theyβre really making Drag a central force in the future of entertainment. I even caught a breathtaking show at a new holographic theatre that featured a spectacular AI drag queen modelled on the one and only Dame Edna! ππ» She slapped those pixels and slayed that screen!
And the drag fashion? Oh. My. God! Let's just say this: pink tulle? That's so last century, darling. Think bio-luminescent costumes, reconstituted organic fabrics, and even the occasional* timeless classic tutu, given a future twist with some incredible technological innovation. *The more, the merrier!
One of the most fascinating trends I saw was transversal drag, where drag queens travelled the timeline by wearing outfits representing different historical drag styles β like a glamorous drag queen rocking a fabulous 1980s frock with some holographic accents or a futuristic queen embracing the classic 1940s ball gown. Absolutely genius, darling! They've truly taken "drag as art" to the next level, and I am absolutely living for it!
Drag Goes Global πI gotta say, seeing drag blossom around the world is thrilling! I got to witness incredible performances across Asia, Africa, and even the South Pole! Drag shows are bursting onto the scene everywhere!
While I was in the Land of the Rising Sun, I found some absolutely divine kimono-inspired drag looks that took my breath away! The colours, the details, the sheer opulence β darling, it was drag paradise! And in Africa, the traditional beadwork incorporated into their performances? Simply spectacular.
Drag Goes Digital π»There were even digital drag performers! Yes, darling, imagine β a whole world of drag being experienced online, streamed and shared across continents. This has created an exciting, connected, global community that's dedicated to Drag!
From holographic performances to live streams of drag balls held in every city β drag has become an accessible and beloved art form! This makes me squeal with delight! Every corner of the world, embracing the art of drag and that's exactly the kind of world I want to live in!
Lessons from the Future πMy time in the future definitely made me appreciate where drag is today, as well as where it can go. From AI performers to global digital experiences, itβs been a reminder that the world of drag will continue to surprise and amaze!
So, remember darlings: drag is a beautiful form of self-expression, and we're all part of an ever-evolving journey of artistry and acceptance. Keep dreaming, keep expressing, and most importantly: keep your chin up and that pink tutu close. We've got this, darling, and together, we can make the world a more colourful, more fabulous, more loving, pink tutu filled place! π
This is Emma signing off! Remember to follow me on all my socials, darlings. You can find me everywhere at @ThePinkTutu! Catch you next month for more #DragQueenHistory!
Until then, stay fabulous! β¨
