Pink-Tutu Blog: #DragQueenHistory 2045.05. - The Future is Pink! ๐Ÿ’–

Hello lovelies,

Welcome back to the Pink-Tutu blog, it's your gal Emma here! It's time for our monthly #DragQueenHistory dive, and today we're venturing into the futuristic year of 2045! This month I'm feeling especially sassy - it's the time for fierce and fabulous outfits, so obviously, this post calls for my dazzling new pink, sequined tutu, a veritable shimmering masterpiece with just the right amount of poof! Honestly, this tutu practically time travelled on its own, it was practically bursting with energy.

It's been a good few weeks for our girl, with two packed shows in Manchester, a drag-themed fashion shoot for the Derby Evening Telegraph, and a bit of retail therapy at the fabulous Miss Frills Emporium on Canal Street. Did I mention I finally snapped up a pair of the fabulous glittered Louboutin's that have been the envy of all the queens for months?! Now I really can strut my stuff. And it's all thanks to YOU, my wonderful readers!

Right, enough about Emma, let's delve into #DragQueenHistory!

*A Vision of the Future: 2045! *

Well, I've got to say, when I landed in the year 2045, it was everything I dreamed of and more. We've finally realised the potential of pink tutus. Everywhere I went in 2045, everyone was wearing pink tutus, and I am living for it. Not just the standard tutu, either. There were metallic ones, laser-cut ones, tutus that shimmered and pulsed with neon light - imagine, pink neon tutus in a dark club! They even have holographic tutus now, with rainbow effects changing depending on the light! Seriously, it's all a dream!

So how do I know this future utopia exists? Well, when I landed, the first person I encountered was this magnificent, androgynous creature with platinum blonde hair. Think '70s glam, but amplified to the extreme, and styled in a breathtakingly large, neon pink tutu! They introduced themselves as "Sparkle", the most fashionable drag queen in all of 2045! I have to admit, the title seemed quite apt! Sparkle took me under their glittery wing, explaining that drag in 2045 was all about inclusivity and pushing boundaries, a concept which I, as you can probably imagine, found absolutely delightful!

Sparkle explained that this inclusivity wasnโ€™t limited to looks and fashion. This was a year where drag queens could express themselves authentically and without the pressures of conforming to outdated societal norms! Drag in 2045 is everywhere, on TV, in films, even mainstream music - they had whole music videos filmed with nothing but dancers in drag tutus! I'm talking sequins, feathers, and all sorts of fabulous attire. The world embraced it, and in a big way.

Speaking of inclusivity, drag in 2045 was an integral part of the culture. Sparkle explained how everyone celebrated and participated. There were "Tutu Thursdays", where people would dress in drag tutus, just for fun! I can imagine that the fashion industry went absolutely wild with it all. Imagine, pink tutu, sequins, drag in the catwalk shows - oh darling! The only limit would be the sheer imagination, and those would be endless, darling!

The Time-Travelling Tutu Diaries: Drag Queen Culture in 2045

Sparkle and I then headed to the hottest drag show in the city, the legendary "Glitterbomb". It was held in a massive futuristic space with holographic lights and pulsating projections, the kind of setting a queen like me can really sink her teeth into. But the most amazing thing about the show? The "Glitterbomb" hosted a full evening of drag queens, each from different genres!

From the sassy, street-style queens who brought that urban energy, to the glam queens that would have given RuPaul a run for her money, and yes, even a few talented ballerina queens, performing breathtakingly choreographed routines that put me to shame! But seriously, we really got to see every side of the art form - even spoken word poetry and drag improv was represented. And I swear, at one point there was a massive dance floor filled with people from all walks of life dancing their hearts out.

The performances were wild and captivating, using holographic costumes, bioluminescent make-up, and even drone projections.

As for the drag scene, the energy was off the charts! Sparkle said it had grown tenfold since 2010. And the beauty? People of all ages and backgrounds attended, young, old, all expressing themselves and letting their drag flags fly! This truly was a dream world for a drag queen! I saw more tutus in one night than I ever thought possible! And every one of them was stunning, with intricate patterns, shimmer, glitter and enough fabulousness to make you weep!

A Legacy of Love, Acceptance, and, of Course, Pink Tutues!

The energy in 2045 was something special - people weren't afraid to embrace their individuality and uniqueness, which really makes my heart sing! I learned from Sparkle that 2045 was a turning point for drag - a decade that witnessed a real revolution in how people perceived and embraced drag, shifting from underground spectacle to an influential cultural force!

Now, it's time to reflect on this experience. Looking at drag in 2045, I realised what we in Derbyshire often forget. Drag queens are a testament to artistic freedom. In the 2045 drag scene, you see every part of ourselves. This reflects acceptance of ourselves, and I'd say, all of society as well! It was truly inspirational to see the inclusivity, joy, and celebration of everything that makes drag special.

Now, let me tell you, all that fabulousness has really set me thinking. It's made me appreciate the beauty of drag culture and how it keeps evolving. Even in 2023, it's incredibly empowering to know we're all on a journey toward creating a world where everyone can wear a pink tutu, express themselves, and have the courage to say "let me live!" It's why I spend my time travelling, showing you these histories, giving you the inspiration, encouraging everyone to shine bright and love themselves, because that is how you will create a truly fabulous future.

So let me leave you with this: remember the lessons of 2045, remember to be courageous, celebrate individuality, and never stop shining your fabulous, pink-tutu-covered light!

Remember darlings, you are amazing, and you are all worth celebrating. Until next month! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

Love always,

Emma x
