Hello gorgeous darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It's your fabulous friend Emma here, reporting live from December 2045. Did I tell you? We're in the future, my loves. Honestly, the world has gotten so fabulous - everything's all shimmery and sparkly - but oh my gosh, it’s hot. But I’m here for it, absolutely! The drag scene here is truly iconic. They’ve taken all the drag from history, made it futuristic, mixed it all up with everything and the kitchen sink, and you can truly see all the influence of the amazing Drag Queens who paved the way.
So buckle up, sugar, it's time for another pink-tutu fueled, history-tastic time-traveling escapade! As always, the magical, shimmering, twirling, and definitely pink, time travelling tutu got me here and is going to get me back to 2023 in one piece (but with plenty of glitter)!
Let's have a peek at what the drag scene in 2045 has to offer, shall we? It’s a good day for it!
Firstly, Drag is Mainstream. We have queens strutting their stuff not only in glamorous clubs but also on the big screen, TV, and even at corporate events. The days of the dusty dive bar are pretty much done - there's no shame, everyone is just getting glam! But don’t get me wrong, my lovelies. The clubs are still there! They are bigger and louder, and much more inclusive, if I'm honest. But they still have that same drag club feeling that gets you all going wild!
But my favourite drag venue this month has got to be "The Neon Ballroom", a gigantic space that used to be a gigantic department store but they turned the whole top floor into one amazing drag ball venue. * You enter a magnificent holographic entrance with glittery rainbow arches leading to the most magnificent staircase – oh honey! * And every floor has a different themed stage - they have all different types of music; drag cabaret, hip-hop drag, punk drag - the only way you could describe this place is ‘fantastic’! They really pushed the boundaries for their show that had the crowd gasping in the most spectacular, appreciative way.
What’s Hot and happening - A look at the Drag Scene
You see a huge variety of amazing talent in the world of drag these days!
* Firstly - * It's really all about the fashion in this futuristic drag scene! Think futuristic materials that stretch and bend and really do have that whole “space-age, other worldly look,” and really make you believe you're on a drag space station from outer space - in the best possible way.
The other huge trend is this crazy mash-up of traditional and new - think of 1970s Studio 54-type styles mixed up with 1930s ball gown couture styles, and that mixed again with the most glittery modern cyberpunk you have ever seen. * Honestly, darlings, the creativity and the variety of looks is truly endless.* It’s amazing - everyone is truly showing what they’ve got and making an artistic statement with their style and costumes. The level of performance and craft here is out of this world and I’m feeling very inspired!
Speaking of Inspiration, The 2045 Drag Scene is embracing inclusivity like never before. They're showing the world that drag isn't just one look or one style! From the biggest bearded queen in drag, with that signature pink glitter and all, to queens wearing head-to-toe leather looking so edgy, to the most elegant queen wearing flowing, beautiful gowns. And everything in-between! There’s truly something for everyone. It’s about letting everyone’s voice be heard! And it's also about the beauty of drag fashion as art! My goodness me - the costumes - so glam! They really showcase the art and craftmanship of these Drag Queens and let's be honest - some are works of art.
Oh my, but this blog post is getting a little long, and there's so much more I want to share about 2045! From the hilarious, crazy, interactive audience games on stage, to the super exciting live-streamed events featuring the drag superstars that everybody knows, to the whole amazing concept of how a large group of people with special interests, such as drag, meet in public space - they do this here in the “Drag Clubs” in The Neon Ballroom.
