Post Number 1531: 2047 07: A Tutusational Journey Through Time - London's Queerest Tea Party

Hey sweeties! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the most fabulous, glittery, and tutu-tastic adventures in this month's #DragQueenHistory! I've been travelling through time like it's my personal pink-tinted runway, and this month I found myself smack dab in the heart of London, 2047 07. Imagine my delight, darlings, for July is the month that holds one of the biggest, brightest, most fabulously queer events: The annual London Queer Tea Party!

You see, my loves, I've always believed in the power of pink, and as a tutu enthusiast, tea parties have a special place in my heart! Well, in 2047, this combination has been elevated to a glorious, technicolor event, a gathering of queens from across the globe, all under one flamboyant, pink, tutu-studded tent! And let me tell you, this year's party was truly tutusational!

A Tea Party of Drag Legends:

From the moment I stepped out of my magical, time-traveling, pink tutu (did I mention I love my tutu?), I was bombarded with a wave of incredible drag energy! My darling, it was like stepping into a living, breathing, glittery Drag Race finale!

Let me spill the tea on a few of the queens that truly blew my feather boa off!

First, we had the legendary Scarlet Wilde, a true OG in the drag world. With a crown of pink feathers perched precariously atop her gravity-defying wig, and a tutu so puffy it could rival the cloud formations of Jupiter, Scarlet's entrance was pure performance art. She strutted onto the stage, a dazzling spectacle, and launched into a breathtaking, high-energy lip-sync to "Dancing Queen" (because what else?!). Scarlet's legacy is woven into the very fabric of drag history, and her presence at this tea party just added another layer of pure magic.

But wait, there's more! The iconic Kandy Kat, a reigning queen of the ballroom scene, also graced us with her fierce presence. Rocking a dazzling silver sequinned dress, topped with an extra large, fluffy pink tutu (the colour really pulls the whole look together, doesn't it?) she had the entire tent screaming with delight. Kandy's signature blend of sassy attitude and gravity-defying choreography brought the house down. We all stood mesmerized, completely spellbound by her raw talent.

Then there was the sassy and delightful Toffee Twist, whose vibrant orange and turquoise ensemble with a matching fluffy tutu was a vibrant contrast against the pastel-hued pink tent! With impeccable comedic timing and a witty repertoire of puns and anecdotes, Toffee Twist was a delightful whirlwind of laughter. It was almost impossible to stop grinning throughout her set!

Tea & Tutus: A Festival of Flavour:

But let's talk tea, darlings! There were rows upon rows of decadent finger sandwiches, scones slathered in jam and clotted cream, and of course, endless cups of tea. Even the teacups were a delightful array of pastel hues and floral patterns. Every sip was a symphony of flavour and delight. The food was almost as fantastic as the drag performances, though it did lead to a few tutu-slips here and there - who knew a cucumber sandwich could be so slippery?

And then, of course, there were the tutus! I was truly in heaven! Everyone from the audience to the queens themselves wore some form of tutu! Every shape and colour imaginable, some cascading to the ground, others playful and short. It was truly an explosion of fluffy fabulousness. It seems my dream of getting everyone wearing a pink tutu is actually coming true! (See? Anything is possible with a little bit of magic, darlings).

Beyond the Party: Drag's Evolution:

But you know, darlings, beyond the dazzling performances and the delicious tea, the London Queer Tea Party is much more than a celebration of drag - it's a vibrant reminder of how drag has transformed from the fringes of society into a fully-fledged, mainstream cultural force.

Think back to the days when drag was largely confined to the backrooms of bars, viewed with suspicion and often subjected to prejudice. Today, drag is celebrated by the media, embraced by celebrities, and accepted into mainstream society, and it’s all thanks to the resilience, creativity and relentless activism of drag queens everywhere!

Events like this are testament to the journey drag has undertaken. It's now a beacon of joy, inclusivity, and self-expression. Drag queens are truly changing the world, one sequinned tutu, at a time.

This month's "Get Your Pink Tutu" Challenge:

Now, I want to see you all channeling your inner London Queer Tea Party! It's time for a little bit of #GetYourPinkTutu magic, darlings. I’m challenging you to don your favourite pink tutu (a brand new one is always an excellent idea!), go out there, have a fabulous time and share your snaps with the world using #PinkTutuChallenge on social media.

Oh, and let me know in the comments section of the www.pink-tutu.com website which era you'd like me to time-travel to next, and I'll do my best to deliver some #DragQueenHistory goodness to your feed! Emma

(aka, the Queen of Pink Tutuedom!)
