Hiya darlings! It’s your favourite Derbyshire drag queen, Emma, back with another juicy slice of fabulousness from the depths of the time travel machine…or, you know, my magic pink tutu, which does essentially the same thing!
As always, I’m buzzing to share some drag queen history with you lovelies. Today, we’re diving into a particularly glittering date: 2047, September. I’m so excited about this one! It’s basically the drag version of “the future” - who knows what iconic moments are about to be born?
So grab a glass of something bubbly, pop on your fanciest frock (or pink tutu, obviously), and let’s go for a ride through the shimmering timelines!
A Pink-tiful Tour of Drag 2047Stepping out of my trusty time machine tutu (still feeling like a dream come true every time!), I found myself in a whirlwind of chrome and neon. Imagine, darling, drag clubs nestled in holographic skyscrapers, holographic performances where you literally become part of the show…it was truly mind-blowing!
First stop? The Dragvitational Pull, a global drag queen competition hosted right in the heart of Tokyo. It’s basically Eurovision on steroids – with all the glitter, feathers, and talent you could possibly dream of. But guess what? Drag culture in 2047 is more diverse than ever, embracing every gender identity and expression! It’s like every fabulous queen imaginable had a shot at winning. This year, a drag queen named Kaito from Osaka took the crown with a high-energy lip sync set to Lady Gaga’s "Born This Way” – pure magic, darling!
Then it was onto a truly extraordinary experience! Remember those super-stylish robotic shows? Well, in 2047 they’re completely infused with drag. I’m talking towering androids dancing with shimmering sequin gowns, high-kicks in metal boots, and robots with voices as smooth as butter. Honestly, the level of artistry was beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed. One particularly impressive show involved a synchronized routine of neon robots in feathered capes. Think Kylie Minogue on Mars – absolutely mind-blowing!
No journey through drag history would be complete without a peek at the runway. I jetted over to The Runway Royale in New York City. I'm talking the most breathtaking, avant-garde looks - like high fashion had a drag-baby with sci-fi. Think bioluminescent make-up, 3D-printed outfits that moved with the wind, and a whole lot of iridescent feather and fabric galore. I felt like I was in a technicolour fairytale, darlings!
But you know me, I can’t resist a classic drag show, so I found myself at the Divine Drag Emporium in London. This is where the real heart and soul of drag is, even in a world of advanced technology. It felt a bit like a traditional gay club, but with a distinctly 2047 flair. It was loud, it was playful, it was incredibly intimate – the true essence of drag. The main drag queen was a fiery queen called “Sparkles”, and I must say, I fell in love with her cheeky, down-to-earth style. She was definitely one of the most refreshing acts I saw on the trip!
Tutu Travels: The Pink Take AwayOh darlings, this trip has me utterly mesmerised. Drag in 2047 is just so exciting! They’re not only pushing boundaries but blending different genres, experimenting with new technology, and all while staying true to the roots of this fabulous art form. And let’s not forget: every single queen I met was radiating kindness, inclusivity, and fierce confidence.
It's all about self-expression, accepting every form of love, and making the world a more colorful, flamboyant place, darling. What more could you possibly want?!
And guess what? It seems like the future of drag is a vibrant fusion of technology and old-school theatrics. Think robots with sashes, lasers lighting up stage performances, and sequins shimmering like galaxies. Oh my!
And remember my dear friends, my quest to bring pink tutus to the world goes on. So grab a pair of rainbow platforms, grab your nearest drag queen, and let's start spreading the glitter and joy! See you next time for another adventure, darlings!
Stay fabulous, stay bold, and stay pink!
With love,
Emma xoxo
