Hello lovelies! 💋 It's your girl Emma, back again with another fabulously fabulous entry in my time-travelling, tutu-tastic blog!
This month, darling, I've popped into my time-traveling tutu (did you know I got it custom-made? It’s a thing, honey!) and zipped myself all the way to… drum roll, please… July 2048! 🎊
Now, July is, as we all know, a truly magical month for drag, and 2048 is proving to be no exception! Just to be clear, babes, this was way before my time, duh… you wouldn’t catch me strutting my stuff back then, it wasn’t even in the 21st century! But the fab energy of the drag scene back then still inspires me.
I know what you're thinking – what on earth was happening in the drag scene back then? Let me tell you, my lovelies! This month, the world was buzzing about "Drag Queens on the Moon", the first-ever all-drag lunar landing mission. It was, and I am not exaggerating, a total slay! They performed a celestial, glittering routine on the moon's surface, leaving absolutely everyone speechless, well, except maybe those lucky folks who witnessed the show live! 🌕 They landed and then literally took off, it was amazing, and all for the sake of drag and fabulousity, honey!
I just knew we'd land a queen on the moon, didn't you? Drag really is a force to be reckoned with, honey. It truly transcends time and space! And just think of it – imagine having a "Drag Queen On the Moon" T-shirt? Iconic. 💅
Of course, while those daring dragsters were gracing us with moonlit performance art, back on terra firma, the scene was absolutely popping. They even had a special Drag & Dine on the Moon launch party happening in a pop-up restaurant named, wait for it, “The Moon & Me,” honey! Can you even imagine? I'm still dreaming of their signature cocktail – the Pink Nebula – which was so deliciously sparkly, and made with locally grown pink moonflowers, can you believe it? They weren't kidding when they called the launch party intergalactic! 💖
Oh, but don't you worry about being stuck in your own corner of the world. Even back then, technology had your back, hun! I bet you anything these shows were broadcast live through an amazing combination of holo-screens, digital projectors, and even just simple good ol’ TV, like we have now! So, really, we’re talking total immersive viewing! Imagine seeing this spectacular on a massive holographic screen in the sky?! I practically fainted in my time-traveling tutu! 😵💫
And that's not all! 2048 07 saw the launch of a new drag queen competition called "Drag Galaxy." This time-travelling theme definitely had a hold on them. Think global challenges in actual historical spaces, incredible transformations using fashion and makeup, and – prepare yourself for this – a full moon ceremony, all centered around drag queens and their incredible journeys! And honestly, honey, can you blame them for wanting a taste of that time travel life?
My favorite part, though, had to be the amazing fusion of the drag scene with, well, everything else! Drag had become so integral, sweetie! They even had a whole entire drag queen-themed opera house opening in Paris! I’m talking the whole shebang – drag opera singers, dancers, lighting, set design! It was incredible and literally broke down every barrier between theatre and drag – they'd actually reached this fabulous harmony! Paris, oh Paris, you truly are the city of love and drag! 👠
It's pretty clear that July 2048 was an absolute blast! 💖 There’s this sense of community, celebration, and, most importantly, sheer fun – they just got it right! Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way, darling. They'd really taken that Pink Power and blasted it out into the universe and I am absolutely here for it!
