Hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller! Get comfy, because this month we're dipping our toes into the future - yes, the future!
It's a real pinch-me moment. My crystal-studded calendar, all shimmering with rainbow sequins, marked it with a pink exclamation mark – 2050, baby! Fancy that, a year further ahead than my time! My tutu squealed in delight. After all, we all know how much I adore the future. Just imagine the glitter, the technology, the fashion… I simply couldn’t resist a visit, especially with a pink tutu whispering "Go on, Emma. Jump in!"
I can’t help but admit, though, I've been so excited that I’ve been living on a diet of bubblegum and cotton candy. I can barely control my own excitement – and you know me, I’m a total drama queen. Oh my god, just let me go already!
This month, though, it's time to pack our feather boas and strap on our holographic heels. Our destination, darlings, is the world in 2050 – and you won't believe what a magical time it is.
The World of Drag in 2050:
You can't imagine how many drag queens there were. I was simply astounded. I popped into this super stylish venue in New York City – they called it The Galactic Gazebo, and oh, darling! The whole world was represented in that venue: from glamorous Asian bun drag to a queen with an extra long bearded style inspired by Viking goddesses – and they were all wearing fabulous, bright coloured tutus.
One queen I chatted to, a real character called Stardust Sparkle, was so welcoming and kind. "Oh, sweetie, so great you joined us. We love to have all the drag girls of the past with us" she said with a beaming smile. Her glitter beard shimmered as the lighting struck it just right. I thought that she might just become my new fashion icon, darling! She told me they do these incredible drag-and-light-shows at The Galactic Gazebo using AI projected lights, holographic glitter and even virtual reality - It was totally amazing. There was no barrier for queens, darling, and no-one minded what their looks were or where they came from - everyone just loved being together in such a glamorous space! It's all so glamorous now – like nothing I have ever seen before, darling! There was this amazing drag queen show which everyone seemed to know and love - called "RuPaul’s The Drag Race of the Future" – and guess what? My new drag family, the Queens of The Galactic Gazebo, said they were big fans of my little blog.
The performances are now using amazing special effects, darling, and the looks of the queens? Simply out of this world! There are so many diverse queens - a mixture of traditional drag queens, street queens, theatrical queens, even gender fluid and non-binary queens – there was something for everyone. And of course, darling, it was all so positive, supportive and welcoming. All of the queens had such beautiful messages - about inclusion and equality.
And, in true drag-world fashion, everyone was living for the new technology in 2050. The queens in the drag shows were wearing the most dazzling make up, costumes, wigs and makeup – even some of them had the most glamourous holographic make-up that you can imagine - it looked so futuristic.
It’s definitely something I need to try on myself in future trips – after all, who doesn’t love holographic makeup, right?
Travel in 2050
We are definitely in the future. The world was so clean! Everything was bright white, clean and spotless, and there weren't any cars, instead, everyone moved about in these self-driving cars, and everyone was just as bright and dazzling! Everything seemed to run on these smart electric grids with solar and wind power. Even the fashion - everything seemed so green and sustainable and futuristic - lots of sustainable clothes - fabrics made with bioengineered materials. I think it was something like soy protein, if I remember rightly? All this made the trip extra exciting.
I know what you’re thinking! What’s a trip like this without some shopping to add in? Shopping is my other favourite thing after tutus and drag, of course.
Now darling, let me tell you about the fashion. Forget about all of those vintage looks, the shops were * bursting* with out-of-this world futuristic clothes and fashion!
Future Shopping In Pink
There’s nothing more fun than a pink tutu shopping spree – and I wasn't disappointed this time either, darling! It’s no secret I'm a huge fashion fan. The clothes were just breathtaking - totally amazing, darling! From amazing sustainable fashions that weren't just beautiful but also environmentally aware, to out-of-this-world shoes – even my own tutu looked jealous! We even had a new fashion range which combined sustainable clothing with amazing bio-engineered material which looked like something right out of The Matrix, but much more colourful - all in my favourite shades of pink and silver!
I also loved these new pink holographic accessories, all shiny and super futuristic! One accessory looked just like an actual planet! Oh my God! Amazing, darling. All my shopping needs had been satisfied for sure !
The drag scene, as well as fashion, seemed so progressive. So much has changed! I didn't meet a single person who was prejudiced against the LGBTQ+ community. It was as if the entire world was welcoming all LGBTQ+ people with open arms! The future was truly amazing and it had been a wonderful time travel journey, I’m glad I have my amazing time-traveling tutu to thank.
You’ll never guess what happened next.
As the sun dipped below the glittering futuristic skyscrapers, I felt a chill. "It's time to go, darlings," my tutu whispered. The futuristic street lamps blinked their soft rainbow colours. The whole sky was a magnificent display of purple, orange and yellow, all lit by the future world city.
Well, darling, it was time to get back to the present again.
But it had been amazing to travel back to 2050.
What are your thoughts on a futuristic drag scene? Is it anything you would like to see happen in our present time?
You can let me know all your thoughts on the next chapter of The Pink Tutu on the website.
Until next time ,
