Hello my gorgeous darlings! Emma here, back with another scintillating installment of my fabulous drag queen time-travelling escapades! This month, I'm twirling my way into the shimmering future of 2051!
Now, you know me, a girl can't resist a bit of glitter, and what's more fabulous than a shimmering glimpse into the future of drag? As always, my trusty pink tutu took me there, this time shimmering with holographic sequins and a sprinkle of iridescent feathers!
Landing in the heart of bustling London, the first thing that struck me was the vibrant energy buzzing through the city! Drag queens weren't just on stage, they were everywhere. It was an absolute joy!
You see, the future of drag, darling, it's a beautiful thing. Gone are the days when drag was confined to bars and nightclubs. Drag's on the streets, in the parks, at art installations - you name it, drag is there!
Imagine this: A beautiful drag queen named Roxy Stardust is performing in the centre of Hyde Park. She's doing a stunning interpretive dance piece to a mash-up of Kylie and Mozart, her feathered wings glinting in the sunlight as she soars through the air. Now imagine it's completely normal for the general public to gasp, cheer and donate a virtual coin to the performance through a smart wristband! Drag has truly integrated with the everyday life!
Of course, there are still clubs and theaters devoted entirely to the art of drag. I made my way to a venue called the 'Celestial Cabaret', where I saw the most spectacular, multidimensional show imaginable. This venue is a giant holographic sphere, the audience all sitting in sleek pods with individual, personalised viewing experience! We were all able to switch between live cameras capturing the performers on stage and 3D representations of each performer from different angles. Absolutely dazzling!
The star of the show, an icon by the name of Empress Andromeda, was an extraordinary sight. She had stunning cybernetic implants on her hands that projected stunning visuals, a flowing holographic gown and a voice so powerful it could bring the house down. And get this - her drag history dissertation, a masterpiece, entitled 'A History of Tutu Performance in Drag' was one of the most discussed and controversial works in drag academia. You just gotta love this era!
My personal favourite was the 'Glitter Globe' show, which was like stepping into a futuristic fairyland. Drag queens danced inside transparent balls that reflected neon colours, the crowd responding in delight as these colourful balls moved across the dance floor with such grace! And, imagine my delight - everyone in the audience, men and women, were wearing tutus! I even spotted some fabulous lads with feather boas and rhinestones - this futuristic generation knows how to rock the glittery life!
The shopping was absolutely divine. I indulged in some future fashion - a sparkling holographic outfit which changes colours as I move - and some of the most glamorous makeup!
All in all, my dear friends, this trip to 2051 has been nothing short of exhilarating. I witnessed a beautiful evolution of the drag world and was swept away by the artistry and acceptance I found in this future society.
But don't worry, my dears, even though 2051 might seem like another world, let's remember that every queen, no matter their era, needs a good dose of fabulous.
And don't forget, even if we can't all time-travel in glittery tutus just yet, we can still wear tutus in our daily lives!
Until next month, keep shining!
Love, Emma
