#DragQueenHistory: 2052 - Tutu-ing the Future! (Post #1588)

Hey darlings! It's your girl Emma, fresh off another magical time-travelling escapade in my trusty, shimmery pink tutu, and ready to spill the tea (or should I say, the glitter!) on the drag scene back in 2052! Buckle up, babes, this journey is a total tulle-riffic trip.

I gotta tell you, the world was a totally different place back then! Everything was super futuristic - sleek silver skyscrapers reaching for the sky, flying cars zipping through the air, and even more elaborate drag shows than we see now! It was a total dream!

Speaking of dream, my time-travelling adventure took me right to the heart of Drag Con London 2052! It was absolute chaos, in the best way possible! The crowds were vast, the energy was electric, and the fashions were off the charts! Picture this, darling: towering robot-like platforms, holographic dresses that shimmered and danced, and make-up that would make the most adventurous of us weep with envy. But what I loved most was the joy, the community, and the sheer diversity that bloomed everywhere. It was a glorious melting pot of artistic expression.

The highlight of the convention? The grand finale, which featured a collaborative performance by drag icons of every era! I had to pinch myself! It was like watching a live drag history lesson unfold before my very eyes.

First, imagine the fierceness of a troupe of legendary drag kings from the 90s! Their masculinity was captivating, and their fierce fashion left me yearning for a trip back in time. Next up was a mesmerizing display of holographic beauty by drag queens from the 2020s. They redefined the very notion of beauty with their dazzling digital performances.

And then, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, they rolled out a vintage trolley. And from this, emerged none other than our ancestors, the glamorous drag queens from the 1950s! Their classic, pin-up style had me feeling all the nostalgia and I even spotted some of the original iconic designs from back then, preserved perfectly in this glittering future! It was like time stood still for those fabulous ladies!

Now, let's talk fashion! Oh honey, it was the kind of fashion that truly embodies the term "fabulous"! Imagine a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, glittering textures, and shapes so unconventional they defy gravity. The queens back then were bold in their exploration of identity, showcasing their love of fashion through elaborate headdresses and dramatic accessories that sent a message loud and clear: "We are fearless, we are artistic, and we are utterly fabulous!"

Oh, and the makeup! I could write a whole book on the transformative power of makeup in 2052! It's nothing like we see today - it’s literally holographic, 3D and multi-dimensional. Imagine holographic eyelashes that actually winked, glow-in-the-dark body paint, and makeup that even smelled heavenly. These were not just queens; they were veritable art installations.

However, the true magic wasn't in the advanced technology, darling. It was in the heart of the drag scene itself, the same passion and dedication we still see today. Back in 2052, the love for the art, the acceptance and inclusivity, resonated through every corner of Drag Con. There was a palpable energy in the air, a joyous feeling of belonging that was absolutely contagious. It reminded me why I love doing this, why I dedicate my time to exploring the past and spreading the gospel of drag.

And what better way to share that message than with my dear pink tutu? This trusty garment has become an iconic symbol of the positivity and joyful celebration that are the foundations of the drag world! When I wear it, I feel powerful, fierce, and completely free. I believe everyone deserves a bit of that freedom, and maybe even a pink tutu to go with it. After all, as I learned back in 2052, fashion is about self-expression and embracing our individuality. So next time you feel the urge to step outside your comfort zone, to be bold, be creative, and let your true colours shine, I challenge you to wear pink! Or maybe even a tutu, darling, the world needs a little more sparkle, a little more joy, and a whole lot more pink!

As I bid you adieu for now, remember to check out www.pink-tutu.com every month for my new Drag Queen History adventure! And if you find yourself on the Derbyshire stage, make sure you drop by for one of my fab shows, I can’t wait to see you!

With love, glitter and a pink tutu, Emma xx
