It’s Emma here, your favourite time-travelling drag queen and I’m so excited to be back in the pink tutu, sharing with you another exciting slice of history – and as usual, we’re going to dive right into a big, juicy pink bubble bath of a story about… The Year 2054!
Yes, darlings, prepare for a world that sparkles like a sequined fan and glitters like a disco ball! Today, my shimmering self is off to explore the vibrant drag scene of… drumroll please … 2054! And believe me, babes, the world has gone positively pink!
Oh, I must tell you, getting to 2054 wasn’t quite as simple as a twirl of my sparkly magic tutu, it took some serious glam planning. But trust me, everything I do is always a production, darling! It involved some serious negotiations with the very fussy time-travelling spirits (apparently they’re big fans of “Good Golly Miss Molly” by Little Richard – I mean, who isn't, right?)
Anyways, after some high-energy choreography, sparkly tears (mostly glitter and tears of joy!), and the sweetest pink champagne I’ve ever tasted (I’m still a bit dizzy, I swear those time spirits use something in that pink nectar!) I finally found myself in the year 2054.
Right now, let me tell you… everything’s a bit wild!
It's a World of Colour, Darlings!
Now, you might be thinking: "2054 - wouldn't everything be futuristic and all chrome?"
Wrong, my lovelies. While technology's advanced, it’s a kaleidoscope of colours and textures! 2054 has embraced its history with an artistic boom, and drag is the central stage for it. You know that saying: “if you can dream it, you can drag it"? Well, darling, the queens here really did that and some!
Imagine… holographic gowns with dancing projections, custom-made outfits made from upcycled, recycled materials, and make-up looks that resemble an explosion of colour – just gorgeous, darling!
A Global Drag Phenomenon!
And guess what, darling? The whole world is buzzing with drag! Not just the usual drag me to a rave events either. We've got:
- Drag Metaverse Experiences: 2054 brought virtual reality and augmented reality experiences to drag. I even tried a virtual show featuring a superstar drag queen from… wait for it… *Ancient Rome! * He was dressed like a flamboyant Gladiator in a pink tutu and serving serious fashion – my heart!
- Drag Space Ventures: Yep, you read that right. There's talk of space drag shows, on the moon!* There’s even a whole drag dynasty that live and perform on the International Space Station. Fabulous! I mean, the cosmos has got to have some truly spectacular runway moments going on!
- The Big Return of Drag Theatres: Theatres are making a grand comeback! Imagine – spectacular live productions on grand stages in London, Paris, New York… every city’s celebrating the artistry of drag and it’s utterly enchanting.
- The Rise of Drag Eco-Warriors: 2054 has realised the importance of being kind to our planet, and who are leading the charge? You guessed it, drag queens, darling! Using their art and platform to push sustainable fashion, veganism, and climate action – amazing!
My Drag Queen Style Inspiration
And darling, let me tell you about the fashion - It’s pure magic! I had to buy a few pieces. How could I resist a shimmering silver and lavender crop top with feathered wings, made from sustainable materials, of course! I picked it up at the world's largest sustainable dragwear store – it was like a rainbow wonderland in a spaceship! And, darling, the sparkly space-age footwear I purchased was a necessity, right?!
*I also found an incredible bespoke millinery shop…imagine this,* it's literally a space dome full of bespoke hats made from repurposed space junk. Think chrome, sequins, and shimmering space dust, baby. And let’s just say… my hair is forever blessed!
Sharing the Magic: My Big Tutu Project!
The whole experience inspired me, darling. Pink Tutu is launching a brand-new campaign called “Spread the Pink!”
Here's the plan: We want to spread the message of love, joy, self-expression and, of course, pink tutus! So… *Are you ready, darling? *
- We’re encouraging you, my lovelies, to rock a pink tutu! Even if it's just a simple pink scarf tied around your head, you can show your solidarity.
- We’re creating a giant online map showcasing all the drag shows around the world. Because darling, why should it just be in your city? Let’s make every single city a drag city, baby!
