Pink Tutu Travels: #DragQueenHistory: 2054-05-00, Episode 1613!

Hiya Darlings! Emma here, your favourite time-travelling, pink-tutu-clad drag queen, ready to whisk you back to another fabulous day in #DragQueenHistory! Today, we're spinning into the year 2054, the month of May, the date? Well, darling, the future's pretty darn fuzzy, but trust me, this journey's worth it!

Now, before we go zipping off into the glamorous abyss of time, let's catch up! My last gig was a smashing success - a glitter-bombed benefit for the local LGBTQ+ homeless shelter. I donned my "Pink Paradise" costume (imagine a glorious explosion of pink feathers, rhinestones, and an overflowing floral headpiece!), and you bet, the house went wild! But now, back to the future...

This month, my magical pink tutu is transporting us to the thrilling year 2054, and let me tell you, darlings, drag's gone absolutely cosmic! The world of drag has officially left the earth, and, oh darling, they've taken the universe by storm!

Think outlandish makeup, space-age couture, and an entire galaxy of drag queens. The most prominent drag scene in 2054 is on Mars, can you believe it? Yes, it's true. With it's gorgeous crimson sunsets and breathtaking views of Earth, Mars is a true playground for queens!

I know what you're thinking - "But Emma, won't there be issues of the Martian atmosphere and such?!" Darling, drag queens are the ultimate innovators, don't you know! The Martian queens are pioneers of environmental fashion. Think recycled spacesuits with neon trims, glamorous algae-based wigs (and if it’s good enough for Ariel, it's good enough for Mars) and, of course, those ever-so-essential custom-designed zero-gravity high heels that will leave your jaw dropping!

Now, for those of us who are still Earthbound (and I certainly do love our blue planet!), you’ll find that the world's biggest drag shows now happen in spectacular underwater performance venues, and don't even get me started on the incredible underwater drag make-up that doesn't budge an inch - truly the work of a marine makeup master! Think, glistening pearlescent looks, with mermaid-like fins, holographic fish scales and iridescent lip gloss! There's a drag queen for every species - think crustacean queens with glittering shells and jellyfish queens trailing neon-colored tentacles, truly a visual treat!

Back in the 'old days,' the scene in Derbyshire was pretty great! But now, Derby has blossomed into a bustling hub for a new generation of young drag artists, creating their own incredible worlds within worlds. I was fortunate enough to pop back to visit a friend's drag show last month at Derby's first underwater performance venue - think futuristic jellyfish lighting, holographic fishnets and laser light shows.

Oh, the world has gone utterly mad and it's a wonderful madness, wouldn't you agree, darlings?

So what have I been up to this month, you ask? Oh darling, let me tell you! I ventured to the depths of the Pacific, right near the Marianas Trench, for an incredible underwater extravaganza. It was an honour to perform alongside some truly incredible mermaid drag queens - there was “Priscilla, Queen of the Deep”, with her bioluminescent shimmering scales, and “Triton the Diva”, with his incredible blue-fin hairpiece. Imagine all this alongside dancing schools of neon jellyfish, sparkling coral reefs and the sounds of the sea - oh, the glamor!

What’s next, darling? This time next month, I'm set to be twirling in the dazzling lights of a lunar performance venue for a charity fundraiser with “Moon Man Diva” (yes, she's a famous astronaut drag queen, the first queen in space) - It’s gonna be space age and stellar, let me tell you! You won't catch me landing anywhere near a black hole, darling - but don't think for a minute that these Martian, underwater and Lunar drag queens aren't all about finding their light!

So, remember, darlings, that drag queen history is something to cherish, not only to preserve the past but also to keep the spirit of self-expression alive. From Derby to the Milky Way and all points in-between, drag is a universal language that thrives on innovation, creativity, and a whole lot of sparkle!

Oh, darling, don't forget, there's only one thing missing from the story of 2054. Yes, you guessed it! We need pink tutus EVERYWHERE!

Remember to keep checking in with the Pink Tutu Blog. It's always a treat!

Keep your tutus tight, darling, and "Stay Pink"!

Much Love and Sparkle,

Emma xx
