It's August 2054, and honestly, this month's journey is extra fabulous, I'm teetering on the edge of sheer exhilaration! Imagine this, my lovelies, a voyage back in time to the year 2008, where the world of drag was already buzzing, with the excitement of RuPaul's Drag Race being only a few years old. Can you even imagine? I was just a wee little darling dreaming of my own drag career back then, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be bopping about the past in a time-travelling tutu!

Right then darlings, back to my thrilling time travel adventure…
It's August and the weather is perfect. I'm just off to catch a drag show, but I have to tell you, this journey is full of firsts for me - and my time-traveling pink tutu, of course. This was the first time I went back to a time when Drag Race was still quite new, and there was such an exciting feeling of community.
Imagine it darlings, it felt like everyone was just getting started! Everyone was so excited to be a part of it, it was electric! The shows were full of energy and enthusiasm, everyone felt like they were on the cusp of something amazing. I'm so grateful to be part of that history!
It’s August, and the city’s full of festivals, and the shows in 2008, were something else! There was a vibrant underground drag scene, too, where people were breaking free from the expectations of what drag should be and exploring the art form in new and exciting ways! It’s not just the drag that was exciting – in 2008 the world of fashion was just bursting with colour! Think pink tutus (naturally, you can never go wrong with a pink tutu! ) bright colours, sequins, a real feeling of creative freedom.
That reminds me – this is where I discovered a shop, called Pink Perfection, a fabulous little store in a town called Bampton, where I managed to find a whole collection of vintage tutus for my collection! I am proud to say they will look amazing at one of my future shows! My time travel tutu has just been getting me around, it’s so chic!
Back to the Drag World of 2008
It was all so fresh back then ! It was wonderful to see how the world of drag was developing. I got to watch a performance from a lovely queen called DIVA at a club in Bampton – I always like to support the local drag scene - and they were fabulous.
Even the music was super exciting and fresh. I discovered so many brilliant queens - there were queens at the top of their game doing fantastic things that it was hard to take it all in ! My trip back to 2008 was a real eye-opener. It made me think so much about where we've come from, where we are now, and where we're headed !
Oh! I nearly forgot - I picked up a little gem at that same vintage store in Bampton, called Pink Perfection – a beautifully decorated pink tutu with sequins and feathers, made in 1995 by a designer called Jean Paul Gaultier! You can’t beat that kind of vintage fabulousness darlings, and it will look wonderful in one of my future performances!
This is the kind of discovery I live for – that perfect vintage treasure that sparks joy in your heart! Remember darlings, when you get your hands on that fabulous pink tutu, it won’t just make you look and feel amazing it will give you that feeling of extra joy.
