Alright darlings, your girl Emma here, and I'm tickled pink to be back for another adventure in time, courtesy of this fabulously fabulous pink tutu!
Now, grab yourselves a cocktail (or a cuppa if you're like me, obsessed with English brews), sit back, relax, and get ready for some Drag-tastic tales of a world wide tour. Buckle up buttercups, this one's going to be slay!
This month, I’m shook to be finding myself smack bang in the middle of... wait for it… 2058, the glorious fourth month! Can you even believe it?!
But before we get into the time-travelling shenanigans, let's talk about a topic near and dear to my pink tutu-wearing heart: DRAG!
Drag 2058: A New Generation Rises2058, darlings, is a whole different world of drag than what we see today! You know, back in my time, 2023, things were… slightly more old school. We were just starting to see the golden age of online drag take off, but 2058 is full blown drag dominance! Think “RuPaul's Drag Race” with more holographic elements and way more global reach!
Here are a few things that have really caught my eye in the drag world of 2058:
- *VR Drag Performances: * Forget your typical stage shows! This is virtual reality where the audiences literally enter the world of the drag performance, interacting directly with the performers. The levels of creativity and detail are jaw-dropping, and some are seriously interactive – you're not just watching, you're in it, darling!
- Sustainable Drag: 2058 is all about sustainability, and you can really see that in drag. We're talking repurposed costumes made from recycled materials, eco-friendly makeup, and even "green" drag competitions! Talk about a fantastic message being sent!
- International Drag Exchanges: No more limiting ourselves to just the big, famous drag stars! There’s a massive wave of international drag exchanges happening, connecting local talent around the globe. So it’s not uncommon to see drag queens from China performing in the US, or an amazing drag artist from Brazil making their way over to London! This cross-cultural exchange is absolute fire, bringing a whole new level of global influence and creativity to the art form.
With all these developments happening, my fabulous, time-travelling self just had to witness this first hand, and what a journey it's been! So far, I’ve already stopped off in:
*1. Tokyo, Japan: * Where the drag is seriously out there, darling! Imagine a cross between Kabuki theatre and high fashion runway – the artistry and intricate costumes are simply breathtaking!
2. Paris, France: Paris is always a chic and fabulous experience, and the drag here in 2058 is no different. This is where I first encountered VR drag performance. It’s amazing to see these immersive and futuristic experiences happening in the birthplace of fashion and design.
*3. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil: * What a trip! The samba and carnival spirit are sooo alive in Rio, and it shines through in the drag scene. The queens were incredibly confident and engaging, it's no wonder Brazil is such a melting pot of global inspiration!
4. New York City, USA: You just have to go to New York! I loved checking out the latest in sustainable drag, and there were so many talented young queens making a name for themselves, and of course, the queens were serving some fierce looks in their eco-friendly ensembles. This was also where I picked up my new, custom-made, totally recyclable “Rainbow Sparkly ” tutu… and let's just say, this baby is everything.
But wait, there’s more. My journey continues, and my next stop… drumroll London, my home city! Yes, darlings, even time travel takes me back to where it all started! I'll be sure to share my adventures of future London drag in my next post, and I promise you, it’s spectacular!
Stay tuned for more of this spectacular time-travel journey, darlings, and remember to always… WEAR PINK! Love you all and may your tutus be fabulous! XOXO Emma
Bonus: Emma’s Time Travelling Diary:Since we're already in the mood for all things pink and fantastic, here's a glimpse of what Emma's been jotting down in her trusty diary during her 2058 escapades.
- 2058-04-03: Landed in Tokyo! The energy here is electrifying, the lights are brighter, and the people are fabulous! This city feels like a whole other universe, and the drag is amazing! There’s this amazing VR “drag concert experience” I saw last night called “Glamourise” it had lasers, aliens, and an epic robot fashion show!
- *2058-04-08: * Had a fabulous time shopping for fabrics in Tokyo’s vintage markets – got some seriously amazing, sustainable pieces for my future tutu! And you're never going to guess what… I spotted a pink tutu shop! This place has everything a drag queen could *ever dream of, from shimmering holographic pink fabrics to tutu repair workshops! (Yes, that's a thing!).
- *2058-04-12: * On the plane to Paris! I'm super excited about experiencing the Parisian drag scene. This city just breathes fashion, history, and a certain kind of sophisticated glamour. I just know it's going to be something special. The VR drag performances here are more artistic, almost like an opera with the power of immersion!
- 2058-04-18: Oh my God, you guys are not going to believe this. I just met a drag queen here in Paris called "Fleur de Nuit", she’s got this gorgeous, 100% organic tutu made out of flowers and she’s using plant-based dyes! Fleur said it was a nod to her grandmother who was an environmental activist – so fierce, she’s inspiring me to be even more eco-conscious with my drag!
- 2058-04-23: * * Had a daydreamy afternoon in Paris, browsing through vintage markets. Found the most incredible tutu – vintage from the early 2000s and it’s a sparkle extravaganza!
- *2058-04-29: * Rio, oh Rio! The drag here is all about flamboyance, celebration, and showing off those curves – so glamorous! And the “Brazilian Queens Club” gave me the most fabulous dance lessons, all set against a stunning backdrop of colorful Rio sunset! Can’t wait to strut this new tutu technique on the stage tonight.
- 2058-05-04: Today, we leave for New York! The thought of exploring the drag scene here gets me super hyped – it’s a hotbed for everything drag related. And it's home to the iconic “Drag & Sustain”, which hosts some of the most amazing and sustainable drag queens I’ve ever seen.
But it doesn't stop here, darlings. This is just a taste of what 2058 has in store! I'm excited to keep sharing this time travel journey with you and reveal more secrets about the future of drag in my next post. Stay fabulous, and remember: Pink is always the right answer!
