Hello darlings!
Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, reporting live fromā¦well, youāll just have to wait and see, wonāt you?! Letās just say, Iāve found myself in a very exciting place. Letās be honest, when isnāt a place exciting in pink, dear readers? But I'll be getting to all that juicy detail later!
First, I need to spill the tea, darlings! I've been having an absolute ball. Who knew 2059 would be so fabulous? Fab-u-lous! Like, fabulously fabulous! The other night, I went to see a drag queen performance at a theatre just down the road, or should I say DOWN THE FUTURE ROAD?! Tutu's everywhere! (Not just my trusty time-travelling pink tutu, though I have to admit, it still turns heads.)
They even have special 'Drag Runway Fashion Shows' for queens who can strut in gigantic, gravity defying, multicoloured tutus! The outfits, darling, the OUTFITS!! A-MA-ZING!! Seriously, I think even I would blush to wear a single pink feather from one of them. I tried, honest! My favourite look was one queen in a silver sequined bodysuit that somehow flowed outwards to reveal the most *fabulous *tutu you have ever seen! It was so massive it was practically its own little theatre.
This 'Drag Runway Fashion Shows' is apparently all the rage - everyoneās going crazy for drag fashion - and you know I'm here for it!! And they call it āFuturistic Fabulousness!!ā Well, when you've got some serious sequin action and enough pink to bring tears of joy to your eyes, it really does qualify for that title! You just can't argue with a giant tutu that somehow managed to keep perfectly poised despite weighing, what felt like, 50 tons!
Thatās how the universe likes to send us little messages: āDon't hold back, darling,ā it screams, as if we needed another excuse! I actually caught myself shouting, āDon't ever hold back!ā, a little louder than I perhaps should have. Well, to be honest, you never know whatās happening in this year. It could be like the 50th anniversary of a world war or something! We live in exciting times, my darlings!
But that reminds me, Iām supposed to be doing something about world peace, isn't it?! How much drag can a gal watch?! I'm doing a brilliant charity fundraiser to raise money for a new tutu production line! Because when youāre looking at massive glitter-coated fashion, it really hits home how much goes into those tutus, honey! It really does make you feel like this could be an essential product, even to those not already completely onboard! And for all of my fans in this new world, *it is * a part of me! It's a pretty important mission! Don't worry, you guys! Iāll find some way to get these pink tutus into their lives too! After all, every heart needs a pink tutu.
Speaking of hearts⦠my own has definitely expanded a good deal these last few weeks. Not just from the love of sparkly dresses, though Iāll admit that certainly helped. It was the community I saw, and I was even lucky enough to find the same feeling of camaraderie, love, and acceptance that I find all around the world in Derbyshire and my dear England!
You see, these shows, darlings? These are so much more than just glitter, glam and incredible fashion. They are about sharing, about laughing, about connecting. And when you are surrounded by such love, such light, well⦠how could you possibly hold back?!
And of course, darling, what would be a time-travelling adventure without some shopping?! I picked up a lovely pink feather boa in an "All About the Sparkle" boutique, and imagine my delight! they actually had a tutu customization service! The sales assistant said, āThis is all our very own drag culture here now, love!ā So exciting, eh?
It wasn't quite a tutu workshop for beginners (which would be fab!), but still. A little extra pink fluff is never a bad thing! This boaās sooooo going with my next outfit. You bet! I couldnāt leave without it. The shops in this part of the world know the meaning of the words āextraā and ādramaticā! Oh honey, and I am loving it!! You see? I told you: 2059, just the year to travel! Iām thinking of staying for a while⦠if only there were a whole team of pink tutus and a nice cosy pink house just around the corner! (There's a good time for a little wish!)
It is hard to believe I could possibly leave this place anytime soon, my darlings. But I know you're already dying to find out how I got here. Well, gather round my dears, because Emma's going to tell you all about it!
Last Month
Last month, darlings, I found myself in 1984! Oh, to live in a world of neon and punk fashion! It really was too good to be true, I mean just look at the shoulder pads and leotards!! *Ah! The creativity was out of control. That month, I visited some absolutely fabulous venues where I discovered a whole scene of drag balls - āBallrooms,ā they called them. Theyāve got it right, darlings. The term "ball" is an appropriate name. A very, very āDragā name indeed!! **Everything is a ballroom to me now! I actually had a great time as a dancer at one of these āBalls.ā
Now letās back to my adventure into 2059!
Getting to 2059
It started with a trip to the shops, darlings, and by the shops I mean a charity shop Iām not kidding, I think my magical, time-travelling, pink tutu couldāve gone through any hole! (If we didnāt think enough of it already!)
Imagine my shock and complete disbelief! In that shop was a 2059 calendar with tutu images!! You wouldnāt believe the number of different designs, my darlings! So it just made sense, didnāt it? The calendar seemed to be an obvious choice, my pink tutu and I simply couldn't resist stepping into a time portal! It was an incredible journey to the future! All aboard! And this time, Iām not even talking about* a āpink spaceship.ā
To tell the truth, Iāve been making pretty good money performing since I finally came to a deal with the fairies who own that magical time-traveling pink tutu of mine. It still looks exactly the same, my darlings! I just had a good talk and a bit of tea! All of my shows are packed - my next one is at āThe Glittery Goat!ā and, trust me, darlings, thatās a lot more than just a fancy name for a place - they have some brilliant shows.
They love my stories - every one of them, about every year that Iāve ever been! So I am still looking forward to getting into that āpink spaceā so I can give my fans some serious time travel, and I just have a feeling that next time, Iām taking my new boa, so let me know if there is anything you want me to grab!
Well, as always, darlings, stay fabulous, stay glittery and donāt ever hold back. It is simply the only way to live, darling!!
Much love to all,
*Emma *
