Pink Tutu Time Travels: #DragQueenHistory 2061, Post 1702

Hello lovelies! Your girl Emma here, fresh from a fabulous time-warp adventure and back in my Derbyshire flat, surrounded by piles of feather boas and sequined headbands (because honestly, even I'm not immune to a bit of post-travel retail therapy). This month, we're twirling our way to the year 2061, a truly magical date for a pink-tutu-wearing, history-loving queen like me!

This month, my magical pink tutu took me on a whirlwind tour of what drag looked like way back in 2061. We're talking futuristic glam, dazzling technology, and a level of artistic freedom that'd make even the most seasoned queen's jaw drop.

Right from the moment I arrived in the year 2061, I was struck by how integrated drag had become into mainstream society. This wasn't a world of hidden bars and clandestine gatherings, but one where drag artists were celebrated on massive, interactive virtual platforms, broadcast globally. Imagine the possibilities! You could watch a drag show in your living room one minute, then be on a virtual stage dancing with the performers the next. It was absolutely phenomenal!

The fashion scene in 2061 was equally electrifying. I was absolutely obsessed with the iridescent metallic fabrics and holographic makeup that the queens were wearing. I even picked up some shimmering eyeshadow at a virtual bazaar that changes colour in the light – think of the selfie potential! But even amongst the cutting-edge style, you could still find a homage to the classic.

Think about this: 2061 and we've got holographic makeup, digital projection on gowns that morph with each beat of the music, and we've still got girls rocking a classic bouffant! Don't even get me started on the shoe game. Some of those platform boots with LED lights would have made my grandmother cry tears of joy (if she could just wrap her head around LED lights)! I got a real kick out of how drag in 2061 seamlessly combined classic traditions with bleeding-edge technology. That's true evolution in style, my dears.

One of the things that blew my mind was the scale of the performances. Gone are the days of tiny dive bars and club shows; 2061 boasted giant digital stages projecting into holographic realities. Imagine being in the crowd, watching a queen interact with you through the projection, then teleport onto your very own holographic stage for a virtual drag duet! The future of drag was about connecting, celebrating, and sharing creativity on a truly global scale.

I also caught the most amazing immersive performance in 2061 - imagine walking into a room and the stage magically becomes the inside of a spaceship! The audience interacted with the performers through this incredible 360 degree visual world. It felt like I was transported right into the action - like being inside one of those old school drag fantasy worlds, but in hyperdrive! Honestly, I haven't been this utterly wowed by a drag performance since my first experience at the famous London DragBall in, let's just say, the late 2020s.

What I found particularly inspiring about 2061 was the message of inclusivity and diversity that pulsed through every aspect of drag. It wasn't just a fashion statement, or an artistic spectacle; it was a platform for voicing unique stories and advocating for self-expression. And this was absolutely reflected in the diversity of the drag scene. Every queen I encountered embraced their individuality, be it their ethnicity, gender identity, or artistic style, which made me feel absolutely welcome. I have to admit, the future of drag, with all its advancements and focus on inclusivity, really made my inner pink-tutu-wearing drag-heart sing!

Speaking of hearts singing, one performance truly stole the show for me - a drag king, sporting a flawlessly tailored tuxedo and a mesmerizing voice, did a musical number about inter-galactic space travel. Seriously, how incredibly cool is that? But, listen, I'm not going to spoil it for you. It's one you'll have to go see yourself, even if it takes a time travelling tutu!

But let's get real, a trip to 2061 would not be complete without indulging in the fabulous fashion scene. I just had to stock up on a few sparkly future-tech accessories, a few holographic holographic lip glosses (think of the glitter!), and maybe just a little something from the "Space-age Queen Couture" shop I found, because it’s never too early for an out-of-this-world wardrobe update.

The world of drag is constantly evolving, and I think it's important for all of us to stay inspired. Look beyond the stereotypes and embrace the dazzling possibilities that drag presents, whether it's a fierce runway walk or an immersive digital performance. The future of drag is here, and it's positively fabulous, just like all of you!

So, until next month, keep twirling those tutus and be bold in your expression. And remember, as always, stay fabulous, my darlings!

Until next month,

Love, Emma x
