Hey lovelies! It's Emma here, and spring is officially in the air! ☀️ I'm so excited for the sunshine, warmer weather, and, of course, all the beautiful fashion possibilities it brings. As a dancer at heart, you know I love nothing more than a good tutu. And guess what? They're not just for the stage anymore! This season, we're taking the ballerina look from the barre to the streets of Weston-super-Mare, and I'm here to share my tips for creating stunning and whimsical tutu-inspired outfits perfect for our seaside town!
A Dash of Pastel Perfection:
First up, we're embracing those delicate pastel hues. Think blush pink, baby blue, lavender, and mint green. These colours are so soft and feminine, embodying the spirit of springtime and reminding us of beautiful blooming flowers. A blush pink tulle tutu paired with a crisp white cotton top and denim jacket creates a super cute daytime look, perfect for strolling along the Grand Pier or grabbing coffee at one of Weston's charming cafes.

Okay, I know what you're thinking. Tutus can feel a little daunting. But let's break it down. You don't need a full-blown ballet tutu to rock this look. There are so many creative ways to incorporate tulle into your everyday style:
- Tulle Skirts: A voluminous tulle skirt is a fabulously feminine option that instantly adds a playful touch to your outfit. Try pairing it with a simple white tee, a classic denim jacket, and some chic sandals for a breezy and effortless look.
- Tulle Tops: For a bolder statement, a tulle top adds a dramatic element to any outfit. You can keep it casual with a pair of ripped jeans and trainers or dress it up for a special occasion with a stylish skirt and heels. Remember, you can also use layering! A cute black camisole or t-shirt layered under a tulle top adds structure and makes the tulle a little less overwhelming if you’re starting out.
- Tulle Accessories: You can even embrace tulle in smaller doses. Think pretty tulle headbands or hair clips, or even tie a tulle ribbon around a plain handbag or belt. It's all about those fun little details that give a hint of your inner ballerina!

And it's not just the clothes that we're going to be embracing this spring. Think ballet-inspired beauty. I love a sleek bun with a little hair gel to keep everything in place, or braids with sparkly bobby pins for a little extra flair. I'll be reaching for natural makeup, just a touch of blush, and a clear lip gloss for that youthful, dewy glow.
On the Beach in Ballet:
The seafront of Weston-super-Mare is absolutely made for strutting your tutu style!
For a stroll on the beach: A flowy tulle skirt or dress paired with a cotton tank top and trainers will make you feel comfortable and ready for some sandcastles! Don’t forget the essentials for your seaside stroll: sunnies, a straw hat and a beach bag!
Picnic in the Park: Pick a pastel-colored picnic blanket and set up a pretty scene with delicious food and drink. You could wear a pastel-coloured tulle skirt, white cotton shirt and denim jacket or a ballet-inspired floral maxi dress! Both will give that beautiful romantic spring feel.
For a fun family day: A beautiful flowy, pleated chiffon skirt will give you a lovely feminine ballet look. Layer a loose, linen, long sleeved top or t-shirt and add a leather jacket for the cooler weather and your favourite pair of trainers. This will be both comfortable and chic!
And when it comes to footwear...
For those elegant ballet-inspired looks, a classic pair of pointed ballet flats will never fail. However, I am also all about that flatform. You can find great comfy and fashionable flatforms in a huge range of colours. Flatforms give the ballerina look a much more modern edge!
