We began our journey in the heart of Russia, where the Bolshoi Theatre is having a phenomenal season. "Giselle," their recent production, simply took my breath away. It was an experience that could only be described as divine.
Natalia Osipovaâs Giselle was breathtaking. She navigated the demanding choreography with effortless ease and breathtaking virtuosity, embodying both the innocence and despair of the tragic heroine. Her fouettĂ©s were as crisp and precise as a diamond cutterâs work, and her port de bras flowed like liquid silk, making every move utterly compelling. Partnering her, the phenomenal David Hallberg as Albrecht, offered a powerful yet sensitive performance that truly resonated.
The corps de ballet were simply superb. The wilis, in their ethereal white gowns, moved like a cloud, their delicate steps and flowing movements painting an unforgettable tableau of the supernatural. This trip would be incomplete without visiting the legendary New York City Ballet and paying homage to the legendary George Balanchine. We witnessed his seminal masterpiece, âSerenade,â and the stage literally came alive. The delicate beauty of the ballet blanc was brought to life with exceptional clarity.
