Dearest Readers, Oh, my dears! April was an absolute feast for the senses, a veritable whirl of colour and movement that was both thrilling and utterly divine! And you know me, I'm always looking out for a *fabulous* tutu!
Now, the tutu is a garment of such exquisite delicacy and poise. Each layer, a whisper of silk, a caress of tulle, meticulously crafted to transform our dancers into celestial beings. This month, the designs were particularly inspired, evoking dreamscapes and ethereal realms.
Let us start with the **Royal Ballet's** performance of *Giselle*. I mean, *quelle surprise* – they never fail to disappoint, darling! The *corps de ballet* were simply divine in their pristine white tutus, so wonderfully classical yet exquisitely intricate. The delicate detail, the precision of the layering… absolutely *to die for*!
And speaking of **detail**... you know I *adore* the use of intricate embellishments! The **New York City Ballet's** performance of *Diamonds* showcased some truly gorgeous, sparkly, shimmering designs – an absolute explosion of *bling*, with shimmering, iridescent tutus. The tutus shimmered under the lights, catching the eye and creating a visual masterpiece! *Oh, to have one of those in my collection*...
However, my darlings, let's be honest, the real triumph was in the **neoclassical ballet**! We have so many incredible young choreographers bursting onto the scene and **fashion**, well, let's just say that the designers are right behind them, playing with *shape, texture, and colour* in the most creative and wonderful ways!
- There was **Wayne McGregor** at the **Royal Opera House**. He is a maestro, truly a master of his craft! And oh, the tutu in *Carbon Life*, it was an architectural marvel! So sculptural and dramatic! The tulle had this fantastic woven structure that appeared like intricate tapestries; layers and layers of woven gossamer – a masterclass in contemporary design. Simply stunning, and one that will certainly *stay with me*!
- And, darling, I *cannot forget* the utterly sublime work of the *American Ballet Theatre's* **Tiler Peck** and her captivating performance in *After the Rain*! There were *no tutus* per se, but her dress – the billowing layers, the cascading movement! I felt it all *down to my very toes*, dear reader. Simply captivating!
So, as you can see, dear reader, it was a *wonderful* month for tutus. A glorious spectacle of imagination and beauty – the **art of fashion** intertwined with the art of **dance** in a beautiful and sublime fashion.
