Darling, the month of June has brought us some truly exquisite ballet inspired looks and who can ever go past the tutu! It truly is the crown jewel of the ballerina's wardrobe, a piece that can transform any ordinary dance into a captivating spectacle of grace and beauty. Let’s face it darlings, they always bring a little bit of *je ne sais quoi* to any room
Oh, to start this June with the opening of the Bolshoi’s “Giselle.” I was dazzled by the lightness and airiness of the tutus - just exquisite. The perfect combination of ethereal and exuberant - divine, truly divine, and quite fitting as it's one of my favourites.
But June was truly one to remember when we saw the exquisite new designs of the English National Ballet's **Swan Lake.** This swan-themed masterpiece did not disappoint in the costume department, as the ballerinas pirouetted in shimmering tutus made of real swan feathers. So elegant. It was a beautiful play on texture, a little heavy but a must see. Quite divine. And then those feathered wings on Odette, breathtaking. Oh my, they truly added a touch of whimsy to the production - fabulous and divine!
June also saw some fantastic work in contemporary. My goodness me! The sheer ingenuity and artistry that went into those new pieces, in the costumes as well as the ballet itself - and darling let's face it, the new look tutu is here to stay. One to remember from London was the new production of *“The Sleeping Beauty”*, the dancers of the Royal Ballet glided across the stage in opulent gowns, each more extravagant than the next, yet there was nothing overly gaudy, or unrefined about them at all - beautiful! Simply exquisite and they gave such scope for new and interesting shapes and patterns for the tutus.

Here are the very best of June in tutus in my personal top picks:
- "Giselle" - Bolshoi- Romantic - classical tutu - just heavenly!
- "Swan Lake"- English National Ballet - Those Swan feather tutus, perfection!
- “The Sleeping Beauty” - Royal Ballet - This piece has such a fabulous scope for costume - so many fantastic tutus and ballgowns to watch!
Now, if only those dancers would wear more jewellery, perhaps a sparkling diadem or some dazzling earing - just divine! That would truly complete those looks.
Until next time, love, keep dancing.
