**Ballet Bites: October’s Tutus and Tiaras**

Oh darling, October is here and with it, a whirlwind of dance! It feels as if every corner of the globe is swirling with tutus and tiaras, leaving my little black book overflowing with productions demanding to be seen. I'm practically pirouetting my way from Paris to New York, taking in every plié and arabesque with a knowing glance and an eager eye.

**Parisian Pas de Deux**

I kicked off my month in the City of Lights, where the OpĂ©ra de Paris is always a joy, darlings. This time, it was **"Giselle"** that stole the show. And stole it, it did. The ballet’s melancholy heart was amplified by an utterly sublime performance from Ă©toile Marie-AgnĂšs Gillot, who conveyed Giselle’s innocence and tragic downfall with heartbreaking honesty. She was paired with Mathieu Ganio, whose Albrecht was as powerful as it was persuasive. He practically oozed charm, drawing you in with each flick of his wrist. Together, they were a captivating duet of passion and betrayal, all set against a backdrop of exquisitely crafted sets and lighting.

Now, one doesn't go to the OpĂ©ra without indulging in some delectable nibbles afterwards. The bar's oysters were a triumph of the briny, while the Champagne flowed like, well, Champagne! I felt a bit peckish after all that dance and devoured a delectable, almost too beautiful to eat, pastry. It was a swirl of delicate almond paste, crunchy crumble, and something distinctly floral – possibly elderflower? It was absolutely divine.

**Across the Atlantic: New York's Next Big Thing**

From the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es to the streets of Manhattan, my journey continued to New York City where the buzz around American Ballet Theatre’s “**The Dream**” is bigger than a tulle skirt at the Met Gala. Based on Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” the ballet is a delightful, almost whimsical blend of storytelling and technical brilliance, punctuated by a magical forest set and costumes that almost beg to be touched. The first thing that struck me, however, were the costumes by Bob Mackie, oh so fabulous, and reminiscent of the gilded glamour of “Moulin Rouge!” There were layers and layers of lace, feathers, and sparkles – pure theatrical magic. Then came the choreography, a sparkling showcase for ABT’s dancers with exquisite, almost daring partnering sequences and solos. The performance oozed the joyous whimsy that only the theatre-filled streets of New York City could offer. And a highlight of the production, a sheerly beautiful waltz by Misty Copeland – exquisite, she absolutely owned the stage!

And because you just can't go to New York without experiencing the ultimate luxury, I ended up having dinner at the legendary **Le Bernardin**. As you can imagine, the seafood was simply sublime. Each dish was a piece of art, so beautiful it was a shame to ruin it, but what else is a gourmand to do? I finished my meal with a perfectly decadent chocolate mousse – so light and airy, it was the perfect ending to my evening. I must confess to almost swooning a bit, darlings.

**A Taste of Russia: A Return to the Classics**

I travelled from the heights of Manhattan to the grandeur of Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre for their staging of **"Swan Lake"**. The iconic tale, oh so timeless and beautiful, has an effortless elegance that always resonates. And the Bolshoi production was as breathtakingly beautiful as ever, a stunning spectacle of classical grace, perfectly embodying that glorious Russian spirit. Svetlana Zakharova as Odette was pure perfection, possessing a swan-like grace that left me utterly mesmerized. I must also say, a big "bravo" to the corps de ballet. They were absolutely stunning and beautifully aligned, each step taken with meticulous care. Their choreography was so fluid and powerful, they literally became part of the sets – a true delight.

**Beyond Ballet: Where Performance Meets Aesthetics**

Of course, darling, my adventures extended far beyond ballet this month. In Tokyo, I was transfixed by the contemporary art scene at the **Mori Art Museum**. A kaleidoscope of light, color, and modern forms, it challenged my expectations and pushed my perception of art. Then, there was a production of “**Carmen**” at the **Royal Opera House Covent Garden** that had me gripped from beginning to end. The flamenco was utterly mesmerizing – passionate, dramatic, and achingly beautiful. The fiery rhythms of the music just pulsed through my veins.

My dance travels will continue next month, but for now, I bid you all farewell. Let the sparkle of October's ballets illuminate your lives! Until next time, darlings!
