Pink Tutu Time Travels: September 1671 - A Royal Affair! (Post #129)

Hello, lovelies! Welcome back to my pink-tastic blog, where history comes alive, and every adventure is twirled in a beautiful pink tutu! This month, I've taken my trusty steed, Magic Meg, the most fabulous pink-sparkling shire horse you've ever seen, all the way back to 1671! Imagine, a world where powdered wigs were the height of fashion, and ballet was only just beginning to grace the grand stages of Europe.

Before I share my amazing discoveries, let me tell you all about the incredible show I did in Derbyshire last week to fund this time-travelling extravaganza! My performance was a total triumph. I floated across the stage, swirling in a fluffy pink tutu that twirled so beautifully, while I danced the iconic choreography of "Swan Lake" and "Giselle." The audience was mesmerized - even my granny said it was a "brilliant performance"! I can't tell you how much it means to me to inspire others to embrace the magic of ballet, both on and off the stage!

And now, onto our exciting journey back in time! We landed in Paris, just in time for a rather grand event. Imagine, darling, a glittering Royal Ballet at the Palace of Versailles! It was like stepping into a painting, the royal court adorned in rich silks and jewels, their laughter and chatter echoing through the opulent rooms. This wasn't just a performance, it was an extraordinary celebration, a feast for the senses. I saw the sunbeams catch the sparkling costumes, illuminating their every delicate movement.

The ballet? It was called "Le Ballet de la Nuit," which means "The Ballet of the Night." It wasn't exactly like the ballet we know today. Imagine more of a masque, with theatrical dances and gorgeous costumes, all about the night, and all featuring a fantastical character called 'Sleep'. It was fascinating!

The king, Louis XIV, was a big fan of ballet. They tell stories about how he would wear fancy costumes himself, dancing like the most skilled performer. It felt a bit strange at first, imagine a king on stage, but honestly, he was so captivating!

Oh, and have you ever heard of "La Bourrée?" It’s this joyful and lively dance that came from Auvergne, in the middle of France, and guess what? It became all the rage back in 1671! They danced it at the palace, they danced it on the streets, it was everywhere. Even my Magic Meg couldn’t resist having a little shimmy with a few local dancers (She’s just a bit of a drama queen, that Meg!).

The ballet world back then was just beginning to take shape. This visit brought home just how much ballet has evolved and how we are still creating and discovering new forms today. What’s even more exciting? That I’m going to bring back all my favourite details from the era and use them to design my new tutu for the upcoming ballet show! Can’t wait!

Back in my time, I felt a strong urge to show everyone that you can be fabulous and expressive in a pink tutu, no matter your age. Imagine the beauty of wearing a twirling pink tutu at a royal palace, at a street festival, or even while going shopping in town - it's a little bit of ballet magic you can wear wherever you go!

Oh, and let's talk fashion! I filled my leather rucksack to the brim with vintage patterns, sketches and designs. There were so many elegant gowns and opulent accessories back then. I think the court dancers really knew how to make an entrance! Just wait until you see my designs for my next collection! It's going to be seriously glamorous.

And speaking of shopping, don’t forget about the pink tutu you can wear in the modern world. Imagine the joy of twirling through the market, or at your ballet class. My online store is packed with everything pink and tulle you need. I even have custom orders, so you can create your own unique style, with sparkling details or cute little bows. The only limit is your imagination.

Oh, my darlings, it's time to go! I'm off to find my next historical ballet adventure, but before I go, let me leave you with this thought: It doesn’t matter if you’re a dancer or a spectator, a fashionista or a history buff, a ballerina or just a curious soul. Wear pink. Twirl with abandon. Dance through life like it's a stage and enjoy every moment. And never forget the pink tutu - a symbol of joy, freedom and beautiful possibilities!

Catch you all next month, and don’t forget to check out my blog at www.pink-tutu.com! Stay sparkly and pink, lovelies!
