Hello, lovelies! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Time Travels! This is post number 254 on www.pink-tutu.com. I'm Emma, your friendly neighbourhood ballerina with a penchant for pink tutus and a knack for time travel. This month, my trusty steed, Magic Meg (a pink sparkling Shire with golden hooves and a white mane and tail β just the most divine horse you ever did see!) has brought us to the glittering heart of Paris, 2nd February, 1682.
I absolutely adore Paris. It's the fashion capital of the world, and my oh my, have I found some absolute treasures today! My leather rucksack is overflowing with incredible ballet trinkets and snippets of Parisian dance history, all ready to be displayed in my little ballet museum back in Derbyshire.
Today, the dance world was buzzing, and the streets were filled with whispers about a truly spectacular ballet happening this evening. Weβre talking, "it's the talk of the town", "I just have to see this!" kind of excitement. So, I grabbed a delectable (and very pink) Parisian macaron and hopped on Meg for a brisk trot towards the theatre, eager to see the excitement firsthand.
And my dears, let me tell you β what I witnessed this evening was nothing short of magical!
The Royal Ballet of France took to the stage and oh, the spectacle was dazzling. Think towering, elaborately decorated sets, rich costumes sparkling with silver and gold, and dances brimming with both delicate grace and exuberant joy. It was truly captivating. The music? Divine! The choreography? Intriguing! A combination of ballets and dances that included both courtly grandeur and spirited folk traditions - it was quite simply an enchanting show!
What particularly fascinated me was the incredible story at the heart of the ballet. I learned that the storytellers often combined fantastical mythology with themes of love and courtly intrigue, all wrapped up in vibrant music and dance. A fascinating blend!
Speaking of intrigue, did you know that a key element in shaping this ballet was the very king himself, Louis XIV? He, the Sun King, as they call him, was known for his passion for dance. In fact, heβd even dance alongside the professional ballet company at his own court! Imagine - royalty strutting their stuff alongside professionals! Can you even fathom?
There was so much more happening that I've not mentioned yet, darling - you can almost smell the sweet scent of perfume wafting through the air. It was simply enchanting, the entire experience!
But, I have to get going β after the show I snagged myself an exclusive interview with the lead ballerina β imagine, I even snagged a selfie! β and now it's time to get this all ready for my next blog post on pink-tutu.com, before the rest of you find out about the most fabulous ballet show!
To celebrate this fabulous Parisian outing, how about we embrace a touch of Parisian elegance this month? If you want to bring that royal touch of dance to your life, why not channel the Parisian grace by adding a dash of shimmery silk or a beautiful piece of French-inspired lace to your own pink tutus? Don't be shy to get creative, darling - it's time to dance like the French do!
As always, donβt forget to wear your pink tutus with pride, darling. And let's all keep dancing! Until next time, Au revoir and happy pirouette-ing!
Love,
Emma x
