Pink Tutu Travels: A Ballet History Adventure #412

Hello, darling dears! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, Emma, here with another thrilling jaunt through the wonders of ballet history! Today, we’re galloping back to April 4th, 1695, and trust me, this one's a real corker! Buckle up, buttercups, because you're about to get whisked away on another dazzling adventure!

(Remember to grab a slice of Victoria sponge and a cuppa before we get started! )

A Dash of History, a Touch of Magic

This time, Magic Meg and I have found ourselves right in the middle of Louis XIV's reign. Can you imagine it? France, the birthplace of so many fabulous ballet creations, all bustling with life and courtly charm. Imagine all those exquisite gowns and glittering wigs, all the elaborate sets and breathtaking dances…

My pink tutu – which, for this adventure, is trimmed with a generous scattering of pearls – caused a fair amount of stir. You see, back in 1695, ballet was all about long, flowing gowns, elegant gestures and perfectly formed courtly dances. You wouldn't have found a tutu in sight! I mean, they're pretty practical for dancing – let's face it, we all know those long gowns can be a bit of a tangle on the dance floor – but they do stand out! And that, I think, is exactly why the royal court were captivated!

Now, where are we headed, you ask? To the Hôtel de Guénégaud in Paris, for a delightful little something called " La Princesse de Navarre”. Can you believe it, darling? We're seeing a real French ballet! And it's based on a love story – a captivating tale about intrigue and romance set in a royal court! Imagine!

As I settle down in the velvet seat – don't worry, I had a perfectly matching pink velvet shawl - my heart races with anticipation. A grand flourish, the music begins, and dancers in extravagant costumes grace the stage, moving with grace and elegance, telling their tale through the art of movement. It’s pure magic! I’ve added it straight into my ballet book – this one's going straight into the scrapbook!

Fashion Fun, From Head to Toe

The ladies of the court are simply ravishing. They wear elaborate hairstyles, carefully crafted and decorated with feathers, ribbons, and jewels – oh, the extravagance! The gentlemen are dapper as ever, in their richly embellished, perfectly fitting suits – imagine all those buttons! All that time, and yet the love of intricate detail and fine craftsmanship still shines through! I think that's a truly wonderful part of fashion - the legacy of generations of talent passed on.

This adventure really got me thinking: what does 'ballet fashion' even mean? It's not just about a sparkly tutu, darlings. It’s about everything! From the costumes, hair and makeup to the settings, music, and of course, the dancing itself – all woven together to tell a captivating story. The creativity is limitless! And the impact of ballet, the legacy it leaves, lives on forever in our art, our music and even the clothes we choose to wear.

Finding Pink in 1695

Speaking of pink, it's not everywhere, I must say, but you know what they say… “Where there's a will, there's a way”, and pink can be found! It just takes a little searching!

Did you know, the court ladies loved their pastel colours - soft hues that wouldn't distract from the beauty of their gowns! Well, pink is most certainly a pastel hue, so it’s quite fitting! You wouldn't find my kind of hot pink around these parts though.

But it's all about finding inspiration, and creating new trends, darling. Just think, how utterly fabulous a pastel pink tutu would look on those glorious ladies! And I just imagine it: pink shimmering amongst all that rich blue and emerald, such a perfect contrast! And that, dearies, is what my pink tutu travel blog is all about – sharing the magic of ballet history and inspiring new ideas.

This time, the ballet scrapbook filled with stories from the royal court - tales of intrigue, love and, of course, fashion!

I'm so excited to share these incredible discoveries with you, and hopefully, spark your own creativity and imagination! Because at the end of the day, isn't that what ballet's all about?
