Hello lovelies! Welcome back to my Pink Tutu Time Travels! Today weāre going way back, all the way to the 3rd of March 1712. Fancy a waltz through the past with me?
Grab your trusty pink tutu and a sprinkle of fairy dust, itās time to hop onto Magic Megās shimmering back and gallop through history. Oh, did I mention? Magic Meg, my fabulous pink sparkling Shire horse, is adorned with golden hooves, a magnificent white mane, and a tail that practically glitters! Sheās the best travelling companion a ballerina could ask for!
Now, you know I adore pink, especially when it comes to tutus, right? And my pink backpack, filled with historical ballet treasures, is ready for today's adventure. Letās delve into the fascinating world of ballet in 1712ā¦
Ballet in 1712 - A World of Grace and EleganceImagine the 18th century. Gentlemen sporting powdered wigs and extravagant suits, ladies adorned with lace and silks, and the air alive with the whispers of etiquette. Now, picture yourself amidst all of this, a beautiful ballet dancer twirling in a flowing skirt, perhaps with a delicate pink bow in your hair. Itās an image of pure charm and grace.
In 1712, the French influence on ballet was very strong. Ballet was moving away from the courtly dances of the 16th and 17th centuries and embracing a more expressive style, with emphasis on soloists and narrative themes.
On the 3rd of March, the London stage would be brimming with drama. In 1712, there were several theatres hosting dramatic performances, and audiences were eagerly awaiting new plays.
While not an official āballet performanceā like we have today, itās fascinating to note that dance was interwoven with plays. The performances would have featured dances integrated into the storyline. Just imagine those extravagant costumes, those sweeping, graceful moves, and the music filling the air. Wouldnāt it be a delightful experience to step into one of those plays, dancing alongside the actors?
Fashion Fun: Ballet on the Stage & StreetsOkay, fashion is my weakness! Who can resist those decadent outfits of the past? While 1712 wasn't the peak of the āballet dressā evolution as we know it today, letās still take a moment to appreciate the beauty. Think flowing silk skirts, delicate lace, and intricate embroidery ā oh so stylish! The era embraced a flamboyant style, and Iām picturing the women on stage in a medley of pastel hues.
Can you imagine finding an antique silk fabric in your travels through time, to sew into a stunning tutu? I might have a project in the worksā¦š¤«
Speaking of fashion, letās talk about āballet on the streetā. Remember, those theatrical performances weren't the only venues where you would find dance. It was infused into everyday life! There would be dancing at balls and parties, social gatherings and even just casually around town!
The ballet dancer in the 1712 London streets, would have been the talk of the town, wouldn't they? Think elegant postures, fluid movements, maybe a little twirl here and a curtsy there! Can't you imagine it?
Pink Tutu Goals - Spreading the LoveMy passion? To see every single person rocking a pink tutu. So tell me, loves, what kind of pink tutu do you imagine wearing while taking a dance lesson? Imagine a full tutu with a touch of tulle, or a charming skirt tutu with ribbons. Or maybe you're feeling extra confident and go for a pair of vibrant pink tutu tights? My dream is for the world to become one big, sparkling pink tutu-wearing parade!
As we journey through time, let's not just visit historical events ā let's create a time-travel-inspired ballet! It's a thrilling adventure, combining my love of time travel with the captivating art of ballet.
See you all on the 1st of April for a new Pink Tutu Time Travels adventure!
With Love,
Emma

Remember, weāre talking about a blog entry, so itās casual and chatty. I hope this feels true to the persona of a 20-something ballerina, who's playful, enthusiastic and just a bit cheeky.
