Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another fabulous time travel adventure. As you know, August is a month bursting with pink energy, so this month we're swirling back in time to 8th August, 1714. Buckle up, you beautiful lot, it's gonna be a right royal affair!
For you newbies out there, let me quickly introduce myself. I'm Emma, a ballerina from Derbyshire with a passion for all things pink, a penchant for tutus, and an undying love for ballet history. And, like any respectable modern woman, I also have an adorable pink shire horse named Magic Meg who transports me through time - a sparkly wonder with a golden mane and tail, hooves the colour of sunshine, and an air of magic. She’s a proper superstar, and I simply wouldn’t be able to do any of this without her.
You can find me once a month here at www.pink-tutu.com sharing my adventures from across the centuries - ballet-themed, naturally. I’ve even picked up a thing or two about the origins of our beloved art form during these escapades. Not to mention my ballet wardrobe. It's quite the collection, you see, thanks to all the magnificent costumes I find in these journeys.
Now, let’s travel back to 8th August, 1714… a momentous day, indeed! The year that Queen Anne of Great Britain sadly passed, leading to the rise of the Hanoverian dynasty and the reign of King George I. A time of incredible historical significance, right?
I, of course, wouldn't be caught dead without a dance. The first stop, then, is London's Drury Lane Theatre. Though ballet as we know it wasn't fully established back then, it was starting to weave its way into theatre productions - think intricate dances and extravagant costumes, all of which were slowly paving the way for the classical ballet of the future. Now that's history in the making!
Of course, fashion was quite different in 1714. While today, pink tutus are all the rage (and I do encourage every one of you lovely ladies to try them, you'll look utterly fabulous), the fashionable attire back then involved corsets, panniers, and long, flowing gowns. Thankfully, even then, women adored their frills, ruffles, and lace! All things that set my fashion-loving heart aflutter. I found the most enchanting embroidered silk dress – it's coming home with me for a spot in my collection!
Oh, the things you could discover when you're time travelling! You never know what wonders you'll uncover around every corner, from ancient artefacts to fascinating historical tidbits, and yes, even vintage ballet items! It's like a giant treasure hunt that never ends. The magic truly never stops, ladies, so join me for the next post, where I'll be taking you to another spectacular destination, full of history, dance, and of course, pink tutus galore.
Remember, everyone, pink tutus are the key to world peace. Let's get everyone dancing and spreading the joy of pink tutus around the globe. Until next time, stay fabulous, my darling ballet lovers!
