Pink Tutu Time Travels: December 12th, 1811 - Post Number 1812! 🩰💖

Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another thrilling adventure through the fascinating world of ballet!

This month, I'm channeling my inner history buff and travelling back to December 12th, 1811. Buckle up, darling, as we’re going to be doing some serious time-traveling on Magic Meg, my dazzling pink-sparkling Shire horse, whose hooves are practically made of gold! You can just about hear the clippety-clop of her magical hooves over the sound of the roaring fire back in my Derbyshire cottage, as I pen this blog for you all! 💖

As always, I've got my trusty leather rucksack slung over my shoulder, ready to collect fascinating ballet treasures and stories. I'm already getting goosebumps just thinking about it - can you imagine being surrounded by the buzz of pre-Victorian England, all decked out in a beautiful pink tutu? You just know that everyone would be giving me curious looks wherever I went - oh, the intrigue!

What Was Going On in the World of Ballet? 🩰

Now, December 12th, 1811 - it's like taking a step back in time to a very different ballet world, isn't it? Imagine:

  • The grand ballets like "Le Spectre de la Rose", with its captivating choreography by Marius Petipa, was still in its early days. The waltz was taking centre stage and all the danseur-de-légendes of that era were captivating the audiences! I just have to try and catch one of their performances!
  • You can bet your top dollar there were splendid balls happening everywhere, with all the lovely ladies in the latest fashion wearing tutus in hues of ivory and pale blue.
  • It's just impossible not to be intrigued by the stories, the costumes, and the movements of these early ballets! It was like watching a story unfold with each delicate pas de bourrée!
Getting into the Spirit of 1811! ✨

For my journey into this enchanting era, I've selected the most fabulous shade of fuschia for my tutu, adorned with tiny crystals that catch the light just perfectly. I’ll be slipping into a white, pearl-embellished camisole with a ruffled neckline, so pretty and feminine! And no trip to 1811 would be complete without a charming bolero to throw over the top. Imagine, wearing all this fabulousness in an elegant English drawing room! Oh, the drama!

I just know I’ll be the centre of attention, especially as I trot along in a pink tutu. Maybe even the gentry will take a break from their formal gatherings to see what this curious pink-clad vision is up to! They just have to see that this little lady knows how to create a spectacle.

Speaking of spectacles, you can't even imagine the thrill of heading off to a grand ballet in a vintage, horse-drawn carriage. It's just magical. A perfectly-dressed gentleman in his frock coat, a top-hat to crown his elegant look - that's what makes the trip even more dazzling. You can be sure I will have my sketchbook in my leather bag, and just maybe the most dashing man of the time will offer me a ride in his carriage. You'd be surprised how many suitors are willing to join the magic.

Of course, I can’t let on to anyone that I come from a different time, so a bit of subtle conversation is always necessary!

A Little Hint of Magic Meg 🪄

Magic Meg, my beloved Shire horse, is as excited about this time trip as I am! Her sparkling pink mane will be glowing as bright as a raspberry sorbet, just as she neighs with glee in anticipation of the journey. This horse loves a good gallop and you’d be hard-pressed to find a steed as reliable and spirited.

Oh! Remember the fabulous leather saddle? I must polish it until it shimmers like a sunbeam. She deserves it for the magic that is time-traveling with me!

My greatest wish is to bring some of that 1811 magic back into today’s world. To remind people of the beauty, the grandeur, and the sheer artistry that comes with ballets! Imagine the theatre filled with pink tutus in the 21st century - what a gorgeous sight it would be! Perhaps we can inspire people to explore the timeless power of ballet together, one pink tutu at a time! 💖

Now run along, darling friends, put on your favorite pink tutu and let’s get dancing - it’s time to celebrate ballet’s everlasting legacy and spread the love for pink and twirls all around the world! ✨

Emma 💖
