Pink-Tutu Blog Post #1813: 1st January 1812 - A Parisian Premiere and A Sparkling New Year!

Happy New Year, darlings! Can you believe it’s already 1812? Where does the time go? This month, Magic Meg and I galloped straight into the heart of Paris, buzzing with excitement for a very special ballet premiere. Let me tell you, even though time travel has its quirks (just ask my dear Magic Meg about the unexpected detour in 17th-century London when I tried to grab some lace for my newest tutu!), the anticipation leading up to a ballet premiere is always utterly thrilling.

Oh, and just a reminder, if you’re ever feeling adventurous and want to embrace a bit of pink-tutu magic in your life, be sure to hop onto www.pink-tutu.com. My monthly posts are filled with ballet history, travel tales, and even some of my favourite fashion finds! It’s the perfect place to escape into a world of pink tutus and shimmering dreams!

This January 1st, the Opéra Garnier in Paris was shimmering with excitement, and not just because of the sparkly chandeliers, oh no! A brand new ballet, "Le Diable Boiteux", was debuting! Now, anyone who knows anything about Parisian theatre knows this was a big deal, and trust me, even a pink-tutu loving traveller like myself could feel the buzz in the air.

Now, you may be wondering what makes this ballet so special. Well, darlings, "Le Diable Boiteux" is a real gem. It tells the story of Asmodeus, a devilish fellow with a charming limp, who shows the hero of the ballet a series of dazzling visions. Now, can you imagine the spectacular costumes and scenic designs that were conjured up on stage? And, of course, I’d be remiss if I didn't mention the incredible choreography, a beautiful mix of classical ballet and a dash of Spanish flair that sent shivers down my spine!

Of course, the premiere was all about glamour. Imagine the elegance of Parisian ladies adorned in their finest gowns, adorned with plumes of feathers, jewels glinting on their bodices, and the air thick with perfume. The men looked dapper too, their suits beautifully tailored, with starched cravats and elegant waistcoats. But the real stars of the show were the ballerinas, their pink tutus twirling with ethereal grace!

Speaking of tutus, my dear friends, I had a simply divine encounter while exploring the heart of Parisian fashion. I found myself in a tiny, charming shop tucked away in a cobblestone street. Imagine my joy when I stumbled upon a stash of the most gorgeous pink satin and tulle! My heart practically leapt with glee. This little find will surely be inspiration for my next design, which I’m planning to debut at the Derbyshire ballet this summer!

I think it's safe to say that this visit to Paris has given me more than just inspiration for a new tutu - it's filled me with a renewed appreciation for the magical power of ballet, its history, and its potential to spark joy in all our lives. It's something truly special, my dear friends.

Now, before I go, let me leave you with a little glimpse into the world of ballet in 1812. This was a year full of promise and exciting premieres! The ballet world was ablaze with new and innovative choreography, daring feats of athleticism, and breathtaking storytelling on the stage. From London to Vienna, each city celebrated ballet with passion and artistry.
