Hello, fellow ballet enthusiasts! Emma here, your pink tutu-clad time-travelling guide to the wonderful world of ballet. It’s July 7th, 1877, and Magic Meg (my magnificent pink shire horse with golden hooves) has just deposited me in the heart of London, right outside the grand doors of Covent Garden Theatre.
It’s time for blog post number 2599! Whoop Whoop! Just imagine – today, in this very year, one of ballet’s legendary icons, Enrico Cecchetti, is holding a series of classes at the Royal Opera House! It feels incredibly exciting knowing that a star so influential in the world of dance is here in London right now.
My pink tulle tutu feels perfectly at home in this enchanting era, with its elegant Victorian styles. Think full-bodied gowns, puffed sleeves, and, of course, the exquisite beauty of ladies' bonnets adorned with lace and feathers. And just like our modern world, ballet has become a form of social gathering, an exciting entertainment for the privileged. But what I love most about this era is that there’s an aura of elegance and artistry about every step of a ballerina, every intricate hand gesture. It's simply captivating.
Back in Time to Embrace Ballet's Past
Let me share some captivating snippets I’ve gleaned from the local paper, The Times (*tuts, the leather rucksack was feeling particularly heavy today, brimming with snippets and historical finds!). Today, I’m excited to be at Covent Garden.
Here’s the big news for today – it's "ballet night," and the program is a captivating showcase of dramatic performances that are captivating audiences! On the program tonight is none other than the famed Faust Ballet! A ballet adaptation of Goethe's epic poem, this work features scenes of intense drama, passionate love, and the devil himself. I simply can’t wait!
After my adventures in the 1877s, my head is swirling with the sheer energy and passion that were bubbling up around the world of ballet. It's been so lovely to explore the vibrant history and heritage of this amazing art form. It’s an incredibly uplifting feeling knowing that my journey to bring back the joy of ballet, and encourage every single person to try wearing a pink tutu, is slowly taking shape. Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com to read my blog, see what I have to offer, and discover why everyone needs a little pink tulle in their life. Until next time, stay beautiful and stay ballet-tastic!
Love, Emma xx
P.S. Just for fun, imagine if you could go back in time! What year would you pick? And what ballet would you love to see live? I’m always so excited to hear from you guys, so send me your time travel stories! You know my website and my magic pink horse will get your stories right into the ballet hall of fame.
