Pink Tutu Time Travels: Episode 2717 – May 5th, 1887

Hello lovelies! Emma here, ready to whisk you off on another dazzling journey through time, courtesy of my darling Meg, the most fabulous pink-sparkling Shire horse you'll ever lay eyes on. Today, we're landing in the bustling world of 1887, and let me tell you, there's so much happening in the ballet world!

You wouldn't believe the stories I’ve collected today! Just popped into the rucksack – a real treat. I just had to snaffle a handwritten program for "Giselle" at the Grand Theatre in Vienna. Did you know that “Giselle” has been one of the most famous and popular ballets for well over half a century?! I'm telling you, darlings, there's nothing more charming than watching the tragic love story unfold, particularly when performed by talented ballerinas like Augusta and Fanny.

I am definitely feeling those romantic ballet vibes this month. Oh, my, I’m smitten! But first, let's set the scene!

My darling Meg trotted us through the streets of Vienna, past grand opera houses and elegant coffee houses where gentlemen sported exquisite top hats and ladies shimmered in exquisite silk gowns. What an enchanting world! But of course, the most captivating thing of all is that wonderful, intoxicating atmosphere, which, frankly, makes the hustle and bustle of modern life pale in comparison. Don’t you find?

We headed straight to the Opera House for an afternoon of balletic bliss! And wow, the ballet in those days… it truly was an art form worthy of worship! In my pink tulle dress, I almost felt like a whisper in the wind as the dancers swirled and leaped through their intricate movements. Their leaps were just glorious, like feathered birds soaring into the skies. I nearly choked back tears! It truly is magnificent!

Speaking of ballet fashions, my dears! I have to show you the stunning costumes I spied backstage! Not a trace of the drab, monochrome hues that some modern productions try to shove upon us! These ballet beauties were dancing in a sea of lush fabrics! Velvet, silk, and tulle – each movement practically dripping with femininity. A riot of color and embellishments that truly captivated the eye, making each twirl a moment of sheer delight. It simply begged me to dance too, and trust me, dearies, the dance studio will be seeing more pink tutus from this Emma for quite a while.

Remember, dear readers, you don’t have to be a ballerina to revel in this art form. Even a simple walk down memory lane is sure to inspire. And if you're like me and want to wear a tutu every day of the week, there's simply no shame in that! Embrace the pink, darlings, embrace the femininity! I hope this little slice of 1887 has sparked your imagination. It certainly set my heart alight! Next time, my dears, I’m taking you all to the magical world of Paris, but more about that later, it's time for me to hop into this stunning vintage ballgown I picked up in a dusty old antique shop this afternoon!

Catch you on the other side, my dear time-travelling buddies! Until next month, don't forget to be bold, be beautiful and most importantly, be YOU. And remember… embrace your inner pink-tutu ballerina.

With love and pirouettes,

Emma.
