Hello, lovelies! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It’s September 9th, 1891, and Magic Meg and I are waltzing through the streets of Paris. We are, of course, decked out in our finest pink – me in a shimmering tutu and she in a pink sparkling bridle with a delicate, white mane flowing in the breeze.
It's the start of a new season, and Paris is brimming with excitement. The air smells of freshly baked croissants and perfume, and the cobblestones hum with the echoes of a million steps. It’s a city full of vibrant energy, just like a ballet performance!
And, my darlings, did I mention ballet?! Oh, how this era breathes for ballet!
We're at the Salle Pleyel, a grand concert hall and a perfect venue for some stunning ballet shows. The whole building echoes with whispers of the ballet performances that have graced its stage - the elegant corps de ballet dancers, the captivating lead roles, the passion pouring from every leap and turn.
Imagine, darling, how much I'd love to have had a tutu then! Think of the exquisite materials, the craftsmanship, the luxurious colours. This era was truly the pinnacle of ballet fashion.
I’ve been pouring over old programmes from the Opéra Garnier, and, wouldn't you know it, there's a particularly delightful piece on tonight’s schedule: "La Esmeralda". A timeless tale of love and betrayal, featuring a fiery Spanish dancer - oh, how I love a passionate performance!
Speaking of performances, let’s talk about my financial means! Don’t worry my sweet little ballerinas, my trips aren't funded by magic (though the sparkle in my tutu definitely suggests otherwise)! No, my ballet-tastic travels are sponsored by my passion – my very own performance art!
Imagine, if you will, an audience gathered around, watching me twirl and leap in my pink tutu. A wave of cheers as I hit the perfect pirouette, their eyes wide with admiration, and all those glistening pink tutus… it’s the magic of dance, darling!
My latest performances in Derbyshire have earned enough to purchase the most beautiful ballet shoes, perfectly pink of course, with dainty bows and glistening embellishments! These beauties will surely adorn my feet during a Parisian ballet show tonight! And the rest of my travel fund, as you can imagine, went towards Magic Meg's delightful pink mane comb and some sparkling sugar cubes for her… oh, and some exquisite lace for my latest tutu design – it's absolutely to die for!
But it’s not just the Opéra Garnier that makes this date so fascinating, my darling. The entire world of dance is a bubbling pot of exciting developments.
Just think, this is the year when Anna Pavlova – a name forever linked with exquisite dancing – is performing in a series of "classical divertissements" at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. How grand, isn't it?
Over in the States, New York's newly built Madison Square Garden will host a grand ball - all those dazzling costumes, the ballroom waltzes, the glitter, the romance! You bet I’m adding that to my time-travel itinerary, darling! And maybe even some lovely ball gown shopping!
Oh, I'm so inspired by this glorious ballet world, my dears. You can just tell, it’s an era of unparalleled elegance and grace, a perfect echo of the beauty I see in all of you wearing pink tutus.
Until next time, keep those tutus pink, my darlings, and never let your inner ballerina sleep! And do share your stories of pink ballet-ness with me. Maybe even join me on a trip through time in the comments below!
**XOXO,
Emma**
