Post #2826: A Parisian Waltz and a Dash of Whimsy

Hello darlings! Emma here, back from another exciting trip through time. June the 6th, 1896 was my destination this month, and let me tell you, Paris was buzzing with excitement. The city itself is always enchanting, but throw in the anticipation of the upcoming Olympic Games and the chic Parisian summer, and you've got a recipe for pure magic!

My dear Magic Meg, my trusty pink sparkle Shire horse with the most divine white mane and tail, navigated the cobbled streets with aplomb. Honestly, Meg is the best travel companion a girl could ask for - and let's face it, she looks fabulous in pink too! My pink tutu, which has become my trademark (you can't imagine a ballet-loving time traveller in anything else, can you?), billowed out gloriously behind me, the very picture of a whimsical adventurer!

Ballet Bonanza!

The Parisian ballet scene was as lively as a box of champagne bonbons! The Théâtre du Châtelet was awash with glitter and grace, with renowned dancer, Anna Pavlova, showcasing her extraordinary artistry. She was quite the trendsetter, my dear, a ballerina who moved with a featherlight grace and captivated audiences with her ethereal presence.

A Royal Ballet in the City of Love

But the real gem, the one that truly made my heart skip a beat, was the "The Sleeping Beauty." Yes, the enchanting masterpiece by Tchaikovsky! Seeing it on stage in this historic setting, with all its opulent grandeur, was simply sublime. I've got to admit, a little tear welled up in my eye when Princess Aurora awoke to Prince Désiré's love. Now, you know me, a big fan of all things romantic, so this production truly touched my soul.

Fashion, oh fashion!

Parisian fashion was everything I imagined: elegance, sophistication and a certain flair for the dramatic! Ladies with wide, fashionable hats and billowing dresses swept by in an intoxicating parade of colors. The shops were brimming with the most exquisite fabrics – velvets, silks, and exquisite lace – and I just had to get myself a beautiful hat and a hand-painted fan. After all, a proper ballerina always needs accessories!

The Heart of Paris

A delightful cup of cafe au lait by the Seine, a walk through the Jardin du Luxembourg (simply lovely, so lush and full of vibrant flowers!), and a charming boat ride on the river - Paris was truly painting a picture of sheer delight! Of course, my trusty leather rucksack is bursting with exciting ballet ephemera: programmes, newspaper cuttings, even a handwritten letter from Anna Pavlova to a colleague - I simply adore unearthing these historical treasures!

My Mission - The Tutu Revolution

I just knew the time was right for a little pink tutu pep talk!

"Ladies," I declared to a gathering of stylish Parisians at a charming cafe near the Seine, "You deserve to be whimsical! Imagine the magic you could unleash with a pink tutu. It’s about finding the inner joy and the pure love of movement, and who doesn't feel confident and sassy in a tutu?"

It wasn't a unanimous chorus of "Yes!", but I think I sowed the seed. At least, I gave those chic Parisians a lot to think about - perhaps, my next trip will find even more fashionable souls embracing the pink tutu revolution. After all, if there’s anything a time traveler like me knows, it's the power of a little whimsy to change the world.

Until next time, my lovelies, remember, life is a stage, so go on, dance, twirl and don a little bit of pink!

And please do visit my website, www.pink-tutu.com. It's the place where I share all my ballet adventures and historical finds with my wonderful ballet-loving community!

Love, Emma.
