Hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, and it’s time for another fabulous adventure through the annals of ballet history! This month, we’re hopping back to December 12th, 1934 – buckle your ballet shoes, we’re going for a spin!
Pink Perfection and a Time Travel Treat
My faithful steed, Magic Meg – the most dazzling pink Shire horse with a mane and tail of spun white silk and golden hooves – is ready to whisk me back to the golden age of ballet. My trusty leather rucksack is prepped for all the glorious ballet trinkets and tales I’ll be collecting. Of course, I'm sporting a new, absolutely divine, blush-pink tutu – the colour simply shimmers like spun sugar, don’t you think?
A Glimpse into 1934: The Ballet World is Blooming
Let’s rewind! The year is 1934, and the ballet world is positively blooming.
In London, the Royal Ballet – back then it was the Vic-Wells Ballet – was taking the stage by storm. Just the other week, I witnessed their incredible performance of The Sleeping Beauty, it was utterly magical! The graceful steps, the magnificent costumes, and the enchanting music made my heart skip a beat.
A New Era in American Ballet
Over in New York City, things were also hopping with the founding of the American Ballet Theatre! What an exciting time for ballet in the United States! I bet I can already hear the music – the joy, the talent, the future of ballet shimmering bright.
My Favourite Ballet Finds of 1934
As always, I’m scouring every corner of the ballet world for exciting fashion finds, and oh my! 1934 has been overflowing with elegant dancewear. The tutus are becoming lighter and more fluid, perfect for swirling and pirouettes. I've spotted several dancers wearing shimmering silk dresses, the movement is so beautifully highlighted – sheer artistry!
And the shoes, darling! Imagine, a pair of shimmering gold ballet shoes in soft leather, adorned with dainty silk ribbons. A perfect addition to my ever-growing ballet collection, wouldn’t you agree?
A Grand Ballet Show, Anyone?
To celebrate my travels through 1934, I've booked seats at a special performance in the magnificent Paris Opera House. It's a truly elegant evening – a glimpse into a world where artistry and passion combine in the most graceful ways. I shall be dazzling everyone in my most radiant pink tutu and velvet cloak, of course.
Joining the Pink Tutu Revolution
Oh darlings, have you seen the tutus recently? They are all the rage this month – swirling around, filling dance studios, and fluttering on stage. Just a few months ago, the pink tutu was an audacious choice. Now, it's a bold statement for individuality, a love letter to the joy and artistry of ballet. I’ve received numerous requests for pink tutu-making workshops. Maybe I should add "Tutu Whisperer" to my business card, don’t you think?
Join me next month, darlings, for more adventures through time, ballet gossip, and fashion discoveries – I'll be keeping a watchful eye out for more sparkling tutus to share with you.
Until then, keep dancing!
With love,
Emma
