Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing time-traveller, Emma, here! This month, my magical steed, Meg, the pink-sparkling Shire with the golden hooves, galloped us back to 11th November, 1934! My leather rucksack is positively bursting with stories from this glamorous time β I simply cannot wait to share them with you.
A Royal Ballet Premiere & A Russian Debut
London was ablaze with ballet excitement in 1934, with a brand new, utterly enchanting performance of "Les Sylphides" debuting at the Royal Opera House. It's said that a young Margot Fonteyn, a future ballet icon, even took part, making me wish I'd been able to see her dance!
This month also saw the debut of "La Sylphide" in Leningrad β just imagine, ballet on such a grand scale! Sadly, my rucksack is only so big, so I'll have to return soon for a closer peek at this stunning performance.
Glamour & Elegance Onstage & Off
Did I tell you, darlings, that 1934 was absolutely dripping in fashion?! I'm talking exquisite gowns, decadent jewels, and head-turning hats. Even the dance costumes were brimming with sparkle and shimmer, drawing the eye to each graceful movement. My time-traveling rucksack is already overflowing with sketches for my next collection β all thanks to the exquisite glamour of 1934 ballet fashion!
Ballet Street in the States
Across the pond, America was in a whirl! There were stunning ballet performances taking place all over, including New York City, where I'm sure you could find a show to satisfy every taste. The Americans really embraced ballet's magic, showcasing not only traditional works, but also creating something new and daring, always seeking the next dance revolution!
A Timeless Romance with Ballet
As we rode through 1934, the beauty and grace of ballet felt as enchanting and timeless as ever. The very air vibrated with the spirit of artistic passion, making me truly realise why ballet holds such a special place in our hearts β no matter what year, the emotion and story flow just as freely!
And speaking of special places, darlings, this little blog is a place of joy for all ballet lovers! Be sure to tell your friends, and share this post if it brings a smile to your face β it's all thanks to YOU, lovely readers, that my pink tutu time travel adventures continue!
I'm already dreaming of where my next journey with Meg will take us β maybe Vienna? Or perhaps Paris?! Itβs just a matter of waiting for a Pink Tutu Time Travel Tour, darlings! Donβt you simply adore the idea?! I do!
Until next month, darling readers, and remember, every day is an opportunity to feel a bit more like a ballerina β in a pink tutu, of course!
Love,
Emma
