Pink Tutu Time Travel: Post 3299 - 11th November 1935: A Whirlwind in Paris!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, your pink tutu-clad time traveller extraordinaire! It’s the 11th of November, and my darling Magic Meg has just deposited me in the heart of Paris, 1935. Oh, the magic!

You see, my dears, this date marks an event in ballet history that absolutely demands a visit! As a self-proclaimed expert on the fabulous world of dance, how could I possibly miss it? It’s none other than the opening night of Le Beau Danube!

Now, you might be thinking, “Le Beau Danube? Wasn’t that, like, old news by 1935? It debuted in the 1800s!” And you’d be right. However, 1935 saw a breathtaking new production of the classic waltz ballet at the Palais Garnier. We’re talking opulent sets, exquisite costumes, and a star-studded cast featuring the iconic Russian ballerina, Tamara Karsavina. Imagine, darlings, watching this legend herself flit across the stage!

Speaking of Karsavina, can we just take a moment to admire her utterly divine sense of style? This was a time when ballerinas weren’t afraid to wear colour and sparkle – I’m talking flowing chiffons, jewel-toned silks, and the most gorgeous headdresses imaginable. Honestly, this trip is giving me major inspiration for my next ballet-inspired fashion collection!

Oh, and have you seen the ballet fashion in Paris this year? Just breathtaking! I saw the most stunning tutu – pink, naturally – with feathers and delicate floral appliqué. It was absolutely the most glamorous thing I’d ever laid eyes on. Of course, I managed to snatch a little scrap of it for my rucksack – I simply had to!

Speaking of my rucksack, darlings, it's quite the conversation piece. Every month, on my trips through history, I find a unique ballet-related treasure. You can be sure that I’ll be showcasing them on our website, pink-tutu.com! From handwritten scores to vintage posters, to gasp! even a tiny bit of tutus! I can’t tell you how exciting it is to hold a piece of ballet history in my hands, knowing that countless ballerinas before me graced the stage in its glory.

And what about the atmosphere here in Paris? It's just electrifying! People are abuzz with excitement for the opera and ballet. It’s a constant whirlwind of elegant ladies and dapper gentlemen, swirling with laughter and conversation. You know me, I just can’t resist joining in on the merriment, striking up conversations with fascinating characters and soaking in all the delightful details.

You wouldn’t believe some of the stories I’ve picked up, darlings! Did you know that some people here believe ballet is all about the stories behind the movements, and not just the movements themselves? They speak of "l’art de la danse," or the art of dancing. It's a philosophy of movement, you see! And they are so passionate about it! You can truly feel their passion for this art form. It reminds me of why I fell in love with ballet in the first place – the joy of expression, the captivating stories woven into the movements, and the sheer artistry.

Oh, and my trip wouldn't be complete without a spot of shopping, darlings! You just can't leave Paris without taking home a little something from one of their fantastic boutiques! The fabrics here are exquisite – you can't help but fall in love with the delicate lace, the swirling prints, and the shimmering silk.

And you know what else is wonderful about 1935 Paris? You wouldn’t believe it, but they have the most adorable little cafes! The smells, oh the smells! You just walk by and get a whiff of fresh pastries and rich coffee. My dears, this time travel adventure truly is a sensory experience.

But darling, don’t worry! I haven't just been consuming all this inspiration. I’ve been channeling it! This evening, I’m heading back to my London flat, where I have been hard at work on a new performance routine inspired by all things Paris!

Remember, dears, my goal is to inspire everyone to embrace their inner ballerina. Because let’s be honest, every single one of you deserves to twirl in a pink tutu and feel the magic of ballet. You don’t need to be a professional to enjoy it – just find your own way to move, to express, to let your inner sparkle shine.

Until next month, dears! Keep dancing, keep twirling, and don't forget to sprinkle a little bit of pink in your life!

Your eternally fashionable friend,

Emma
