Hello, darling dears! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time-traveller, and oh, what a fabulous journey I've had this month! My trusty steed, Magic Meg (you just have to see her sparkly pink coat and golden hooves!) whisked me away to a whirlwind of a trip – all thanks to my passion for the magical world of ballet!
July 2002 – what a beautiful time to be alive! This month, we're celebrating a truly spectacular moment in ballet history – the grand re-opening of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London!
Imagine this: a beautiful, newly-refurbished theatre, glistening chandeliers, and a magical aura just begging to be filled with the enchanting stories told through dance. It was pure magic, darling! I just knew I had to witness it all, donning my most fabulous pink tutu, of course! (After all, one must always be fashionably prepared for time travel, wouldn't you agree?).
So, Magic Meg and I flew across the centuries (quite the elegant feat for a horse, I must say!), landing right at the heart of this exciting new beginning for the Royal Opera House. The energy in the air was buzzing, full of anticipation for the performance. Everyone was talking about the special gala that would mark this monumental occasion – a gala featuring world-class talent and a new piece by the legendary Sir Frederick Ashton.
Now, I am not exaggerating when I say it was quite a spectacle! The Royal Ballet Company – truly the creme de la creme – danced their hearts out. Every graceful pirouette, every powerful jeté was filled with passion and beauty. It was a night to remember! But that’s not all – I couldn't resist spending a little time exploring the wonderful shops and markets around Covent Garden. Oh, the ballet-inspired accessories I found! Think feather boas, dainty ballet slippers (just like my own!), and exquisite porcelain ballerinas – my rucksack was overflowing with treasures!
Now, talking about treasures, I had the absolute honour of attending a private ballet class during my travels, a real insider’s look at the artistry behind the graceful dance we all know and love. You can’t believe how much hard work, dedication, and talent go into every step, every movement. It’s pure inspiration, darlings!
This journey wasn't just about ballet, though – oh, no! I also got to see a spectacular West End performance in London. I must say, those shows always manage to have that je ne sais quoi, that little extra bit of theatrical flair that makes your heart skip a beat. And yes, I even snuck into a theatre class – just had to try out a few routines and let loose!
You know, this journey truly confirmed for me the magical, uniting power of ballet – no matter the time period, it always manages to weave its way into our hearts and souls.
But wait! Before you whisk away into your own lives, darlings, here’s a bit of exciting news for the month of July 2002:
The Royal Ballet opens their brand new stage! A grand celebration for the ballet world with a magnificent gala, featuring the talented Royal Ballet company and the new work of Sir Frederick Ashton.
Dance performances fill the West End! This is the time to experience the vibrancy and energy of theatre in its peak – don't forget to check out the captivating ballet shows on the stage.
A new era begins! This special date marks not only a re-opening, but a promise of exciting new performances, talented dancers, and unforgettable ballet moments for all.
I know what you're thinking - "Emma, how on earth do you finance these extraordinary adventures?" Well, it’s my little secret! I earn my travelling allowance through ballet performances myself. Sometimes I'll give a quick impromptu performance on street corners, sometimes I’ll even take to the stage! My dancing always brings joy and that helps fuel Magic Meg's next incredible journey through time!
I just love sharing the beautiful world of ballet with you all, and if there’s anything I've learnt from this journey, it's to live, dance, and cherish each moment - especially with a little bit of pink tutu flair!
See you next month, darlings! Until then, may your lives be filled with magic, laughter, and beautiful dance!
Love, Emma x
