Pink-Tutu.com: Post #4153 – A Dash of 19th Century Ballet Magic!

Hello darlings, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet! It's Emma here, your trusty time-travelling ballerina, and this month, we're stepping back in time to 1st January 2007!

Now, you know I'm a sucker for a good historical ballet trip, and today, we're dipping our toes (quite literally, with these fab new ballet slippers I got at the vintage market in Buxton) into a year that brought some truly delightful ballet happenings!

A Little History to Kickstart 2007

2007 started with the world eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Royal Ballet's 2007 Season. Oh, the excitement! You can practically imagine the chatter in the hallowed halls of Covent Garden, full of anticipation. I'm absolutely dying to catch a glimpse of these productions, though, luckily for us, a little bit of magic called Magic Meg is at my disposal – I just hop on her sparkly back, and off we go!

But back to the matter at hand, January 1st, 2007! Now, we don't have any big premieres or performances on this particular date. It's more of a time for reflection – just like us in Derbyshire, right? You've got your mince pies gone, the decorations are packed away, and now it's time to dream of all the incredible ballet adventures waiting for us in 2007!

What was on in the Ballet World This Time?

Even if there wasn't anything new to see on January 1st, the world of ballet was alive and well in early 2007! Across the pond, the New York City Ballet was ready to unleash a breathtaking program filled with choreographic masterpieces by the legendary George Balanchine – we're talking “Diamonds”, “Serenade”, “Agon”, and "Symphony in C”. Can you even imagine? And in Moscow, the legendary Bolshoi Theatre was dazzling audiences with its iconic "Giselle" and a special production of "Swan Lake". Can you picture the grandiosity, the shimmering tutus, and those iconic steps? Sigh.

You see, dear readers, there’s always something magical to discover, regardless of what the calendar says. So, we're not just going to stay stuck in 2007, no no, we’re going to hop through a few other eras!

Adventures with Magic Meg

Magic Meg – bless her sparkling heart – is quite a traveler! And she never hesitates to join me in a jaunt through time, even if it means galloping across cobbled streets or through bustling Renaissance marketplaces! It's rather comical, really – she often forgets her elegant horse manners and kicks up a storm. You'd think with a mane as shiny as a silk scarf and hooves that look like golden coins she’d be a bit more sophisticated. Pssst, did you know you can purchase those adorable, little horse shoe charm earrings to honour the Queen of all horse wear at [Website name ]?! It’s like bringing Magic Meg with you everywhere, darlings!

Flashback: The Ballet of Yesterday

This month, however, our adventures take us to the Victorian Era. Imagine waltzing under crystal chandeliers, sipping lemonade in ornate ballrooms, and wearing lavish costumes, all while surrounded by a flurry of frills, lace and shimmering silk. Oh, the pure elegance! It’s as if every element in the world sings to the rhythm of waltzing!

Of course, we're not going just to marvel at the costumes – although they are worth gawking over! - we'll be soaking up the energy of ballet in its early forms. You see, the Victorian era was a time when ballet began to blossom into its own form – the language of ballet, with its intricate movements and graceful flourishes, started to solidify.

And we all know that a good bit of ballet history makes any journey even more special!

A Pinch of Inspiration From The Past

Let's hop off Magic Meg, for a moment and look around. Here in Derbyshire, the hills are dotted with quaint villages that could have easily been home to charming Victorian families – with the warmth and charm that they brought to every moment.

This trip, you see, isn't just about tutus and time travel (although that is pretty exciting! ). This is a call to embrace the spirit of Victorian ballet – to see the dedication, the elegance and the pure, joyful energy in everything we do.

And you know what, I think I see a way to carry a little bit of this charm into our daily lives. Just a dash of history, a sprinkle of ballet’s elegance, and we’ll find ourselves with a whole new energy for whatever the day brings, darlings!

Now, as you head out to shop or go to your favorite café or maybe to that fancy dinner that you’ve been waiting for, why not remember a little piece of history - the graceful movements of a Victorian ballerina! - to lift your heart.

Sharing The Joy – Join Me, Darlings!

And now, a tiny request from a tutu-obsessed ballerina – as always – if you haven’t got a pink tutu, well, it’s high time you find yourself one, my darlings! Remember – it’s a chance to take a small, graceful step back to this magical era and let a bit of its magic brighten your world!

Til next time!

Emma
