Oh my darlings, how utterly delightful it is to be back in my digital haven, www.pink-tutu.com! I simply cannot contain myself - February, 2007 is calling, and I am answering with the flourish of a perfectly-timed pirouette!
My lovely Meg, the most magnificent pink-sparkling Shire with golden hooves and a white mane that cascades like spun silk, is already pawing the ground, impatient to whisk me through time. We’re off to the theatre, the heart of where magic unfolds in graceful leaps and bounding joy, to see what delights 2007 has to offer.
The thought of it makes my heart flutter with anticipation! Just picture this – me, resplendent in my beloved pink tulle tutu, its layers shimmering under the midday sun. I’m always on the lookout for the perfect shade of pink, the one that captures that sweet, airy, ethereal feel – a colour fit for the most divine of ballet dreams! My favourite is the shade they call “ballet slipper” pink - soft, romantic, and oh so dreamy. It goes perfectly with my white satin pointe shoes, don’t you think?
Before we depart, let’s have a quick peek at the leather rucksack on my back, my very own portable treasury of ballet history. Filled to the brim with programmes, tickets, and stories, it holds treasures from each adventure in time – a fascinating mishmash of silk and sequins, whispers of bygone dances, and a constant reminder of why I love to travel to ballet’s golden eras.
On the ballet calendar in February 2007, a plethora of brilliance awaits:
In New York, the New York City Ballet will be presenting Jerome Robbins’ masterpiece, "The Four Seasons." Such joy and elegance intertwined, it’s truly a performance to lift the spirits.
Across the pond in the majestic Royal Opera House in London, the Royal Ballet will be taking centre stage with their production of “Swan Lake.” Can you even imagine, the sheer grace of those white swans against the backdrop of a shimmering lake! It’s practically a dream made real!
And, a hop, skip, and jump to the West End, the Royal Ballet School's star-studded alumni will be dazzling London audiences with "Mayerling" at Sadler's Wells. Such raw passion and drama – truly a ballet spectacle not to be missed.
This year's performance calendar is packed with dazzling stars, innovative choreography, and historical works that continue to inspire generations. Oh, the delight! But let’s not forget the importance of our own local ballets, those hidden gems often tucked away in our Derbyshire town halls and local theatre stages. Every performance holds a touch of magic, and those talented, hardworking dancers deserve all the praise in the world!
Time for adventure!
Meg is whinnying, urging us onward, the echoes of her hooves pounding like the rhythm of a joyful dance. I hold onto my beloved tutu, making sure it's secured perfectly, and we’re off, leaping into time. Oh, I just can’t wait to share the enchanting, elegant delights of the world of ballet from this wonderful year in my next post! Stay tuned for more pink, more passion, and all the fabulous stories this magical world has to offer.
Remember darlings, to keep that ballet spirit alive, let it blossom with each and every step! I’ll leave you with a piece of advice that my dearest ballet teacher always imparts – dance from your heart, let your soul shine, and above all, embrace the joy of moving and grooving. Until next month, darling ballet lovers, do remember, a little pink never hurt anyone. And don’t be afraid to put on your tutu and twirl!
Yours in tulle and twirls,
Emma xx
