Pink Tutu Travels: Post 4156 - April 2007

Hello lovelies! Emma here, from the sunny Derbyshire countryside, bringing you another exciting journey into the wonderful world of ballet history! As always, my faithful steed, the shimmering, pink-sparkled Magic Meg, has carried me to another time and place to witness the magic of ballet. This month, we galloped our way to...April 2007!

Now, before we delve into the ballet events of the month, I must tell you, my darlings, about my latest sartorial triumph! Remember how I've been dreaming of a tutu as pink as a summer sunrise? Well, you won't believe this, but I found the most exquisite confection at a vintage shop in... (whisper) …1950s New York! It's the most gorgeous, flowing tulle, with the softest, most delicate blush hue, and it just begs to twirl! I simply had to have it, and of course, Magic Meg had no problem squeezing it into her saddlebags.

Let me share with you the delights that awaited me in the ballet world of April 2007:

New York City Ballet: The Spirit of Balanchine

As always, New York City Ballet was brimming with life! It was their Spring Gala and their program featured the renowned Balanchine's masterpieces, 'Serenade', and 'Agon'. Imagine! It's hard not to feel a flutter of excitement thinking of seeing such legends on stage!

Royal Ballet, London: A Tribute to Frederick Ashton

Across the pond, the Royal Ballet was celebrating the legendary choreographer, Frederick Ashton, with a wonderful programme including 'La Fille Mal Gardée' and 'The Dream'. Just the thought of seeing Ashton’s masterpieces makes my heart dance! I can't help but imagine all the emotions those performances must have stirred. I hope my little leather rucksack is ready to hold some of those feelings.

International Choreography: The World is Our Stage

April 2007 wasn't just about the grand ballets though, it was full of international flavour too! Over in Amsterdam, Introdans was showcasing its 20th Anniversary Gala! And just across the Channel, the Royal Ballet School's Upper School was performing an enchanting program in London. It seems ballet was blossoming in every corner of the globe.

But the magic wasn't confined to the stage!

Fashion Frenzy in Paris!

April in Paris was synonymous with fashion, my darlings! Oh, the gorgeousness! This was the month of Paris Fashion Week, and with my tutu always by my side, it’s a time to immerse myself in the trends and colours of the fashion world. From delicate chiffon gowns to bold, statement-making colours, fashion in 2007 was all about celebrating the feminine form.

The Tutu Renaissance: It's All About the Pink!

The month was overflowing with exciting tutu-themed adventures! You'll never believe this, but I discovered the most fabulous pink tutu boutique in… wait for itParis! Imagine a shop bursting with the most beautiful, frothy pink tutus, each more dreamy than the next! My heart skipped a beat when I stepped inside. Every colour of pink was on display: pale, blush, fuchsia, salmon… you name it, they had it. I couldn’t help but treat myself to a magnificent tutu, made of the finest silk and tulle, with the most elaborate ruffles and layers. I must say, dear readers, it looks absolutely fabulous on Magic Meg!

Bringing Back the Memories:

You see, my dears, it isn’t just the ballet performances themselves that captivate me, it's also the little details. In April 2007, I stumbled upon the most incredible ballet costume exhibition in New York City. Imagine, a room overflowing with tutus and costumes from every era! Each one told a story – a whispered dance from a bygone era. I filled my leather rucksack with fabric swatches, old programs, and newspaper clippings – a treasure trove of ballet history just waiting to be explored.

It's not all about tutus and shows though. Remember, my aim is to bring a little bit of ballet magic to every life! So, for this month, I encourage you to add a little pink to your lives.

Start your day with a pink tutu breakfast! Toast shaped like ballet shoes with pink-strawberry jam? Maybe pink grapefruit and a strawberry smoothie? Let your inner ballerina shine through your taste buds!

Or, wear a little bit of pink every day! Pink scarf? Pink nail polish? Even a tiny pink hair clip can make a world of difference! It’s about embracing your individuality and injecting joy into every moment.

And, dear readers, never forget: ballet is about more than just steps and leaps, it’s about the joy of movement, the magic of stories, and the beauty of shared moments. So, keep your head held high, your shoulders back, and your hearts open to all the wonder ballet has to offer.

See you next month for another fabulous adventure, right here on www.pink-tutu.com.

Until then, twirl on, my dears!

Lots of love,

Emma x
