Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, and I'm back from another exciting trip through time, and you're not going to believe where Magic Meg whisked me off to this time! But before we get to the glittery details, I want to start with something utterly pink! This month, let’s talk tutus. Not just any tutu, darling, but the perfect pink tutu! I'm on a mission to get everyone wearing one, you see, and this pink number I found in the past is divine!
Imagine, it's a wispy tulle confection, with the lightest shade of pink imaginable. Think soft, blush rose, with a delicate sparkle that catches the light. Absolutely enchanting! It’s going straight onto the www.pink-tutu.com website! (You do check out the shop regularly, right, darling?) Because seriously, we all deserve a touch of magic in our lives, and what could be more magical than twirling in a gorgeous pink tutu?
But let’s go back to my adventures… This month, Magic Meg and I travelled all the way to... St Petersburg, Russia! Yes, you heard me right! I landed right in the middle of the city's majestic Mariinsky Theatre on the 5th of May, 2007. Just imagine, darling! I'd arrived on the date when the Bolshoi Ballet performed 'Don Quixote' at the theatre. This classic, with its romantic themes and incredible leaps and twirls, totally stole my heart. The energy was electrifying, and the artistry just incredible!
Speaking of artistry, did you know that May is National Dance Month in America? Now, how wonderful is that?! Makes me so happy that there's a month dedicated to the beauty and joy of dance! It just proves that people all over the world are embracing ballet, which is something I’m absolutely thrilled about.
The sheer romance and drama of this trip to the Mariinsky got me thinking… what is it about ballet that draws us in so? What’s so special about the graceful movements, the stunning costumes, the stories we experience through dance? For me, it's that incredible blend of passion, precision, and a whole lot of heart!
But don’t get me wrong, darling, it’s not just about ballet in the grand theatres of the world! My rucksack is bursting with treasures I’ve discovered from this trip: little ballet shops in St Petersburg selling beautiful ballerina-themed treasures, and the joy of seeing ballet everywhere I went!
In a little cafe, I stumbled across a group of youngsters practicing ballet steps at a cafe table! In a museum, I overheard two little girls discussing the elegance of a ballerina statue, their faces alight with admiration. Everywhere I looked, I was surrounded by ballet, reminding me of how much joy and inspiration it brings.
One of the treasures in my rucksack is a beautifully embroidered silk ballet bag I picked up in a quaint shop near the Mariinsky Theatre. Think soft lavender silk with delicate ballet dancers embroidered in ivory thread! I can't wait to show it off to you lovelies when I return from my next trip.
Oh! Before I go, I simply have to share something exciting! The Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Awards were announced this month! These prestigious awards celebrate creativity and innovation in the world of ballet and contemporary dance. Just amazing! It’s fantastic to see the art of dance getting the recognition it deserves.
Okay, lovelies, that’s me for this month! I’m already making plans for my next adventure with Magic Meg, and I can’t wait to share all the magical memories I’ll bring back. Do keep in touch and follow my pink-tutu adventures. Have you been thinking about a new pink tutu for spring? If not, what are you waiting for! Pink tutus are perfect for everyone and are a guaranteed pick-me-up on a cloudy day. Have a lovely month!
Until next time, darling,
Emma
