Pink-Tutu.com: Post 4158 – A Dance Through June 2007

Hello my dearest ballet bunnies! 🎀💖 Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things pink and twirling! Today, we're whisking back to June 2007, a time of sparkling tutus, enchanting ballets, and a whole lot of fabulousness! 🩰✨

This month, I’m riding Magic Meg, my gorgeous pink sparkling shire horse with those golden hooves and that magnificent white mane and tail, right into the heart of a world brimming with ballet. Oh, I just adore how time travel feels. It's like the whole world becomes a stage for a grand ballet, a magical performance full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered!

June 2007 was buzzing with all things ballet! I packed my trusty leather rucksack with extra sparkles and some new pointe shoes because, as we all know, you can't travel back in time without looking the part. Imagine it! Emma, in her favourite pink tutu, travelling through the centuries. A pink vision of grace, spinning stories of ballet for all to see!

First stop – London! My favourite city to time travel to! You know, London was already awash in fabulousness with "Swan Lake", "Giselle" and the spectacular "Sleeping Beauty", all on stage, vying for your attention. But, I tell you what, London really stepped up their game in 2007 with the arrival of the dazzling Matthew Bourne, with his ground-breaking production of “The Red Shoes”. I've heard rumours this is an amazing spectacle that brings new energy to the classic film. Can't wait to see it! Imagine those red shoes! A dash of magic and I'm there!

Then, oh, how excited I was! The Royal Ballet, a true jewel in the crown of the ballet world, presented a new ballet called "Diana and Actaeon" that June. Can you imagine? A beautiful ballet named for the Greek goddess herself. The reviews are saying it's both passionate and heartbreaking – all the elements that make for a truly exceptional ballet experience.

I took Magic Meg on a trip to Paris as well, and let me tell you, they're embracing the classics! The Paris Opera Ballet took to the stage with "La Sylphide" and "Romeo and Juliet" – a true tribute to the greats. But Paris was also ahead of the game, they were putting on a modern production of "Coppélia" too! My little birdie tells me this reimagining was full of wit and wonder, a blend of tradition and innovation! I'm already thinking about my pink tutu wardrobe choices for my next visit!

I wasn’t just about the bigger, well-known shows. I had a sneaky visit to Edinburgh for the Scottish Ballet. I discovered they had this production called "Broken Wings" – it seems it was all about dancing, drama, and a powerful performance based on the experiences of World War I airmen! I can just imagine the poignant stories behind those powerful dance movements.

So many stories and tales! That's why my little leather rucksack is so big. I just need to add these exciting snippets to my ever-growing archive of ballet tales. You never know when those stories will be needed, in a future time or maybe even a time past.

Remember, dear readers, this is only the tip of the tutu! Ballet is a vibrant world full of untold stories, waiting for us to dance them back to life. June 2007 is full of such amazing experiences – let us explore and celebrate them, with a little bit of sparkle, a touch of magic, and a whole lot of pink tutus. 🩰💖✨

As always, thank you for joining me on this grand ballet adventure. Now, get out there, twirl, and remember, there is a pink tutu waiting for every ballerina!

Emma xoxo

The Pink-Tutu World:

Every month, on the first day of the month, Emma releases her ballet time travel blog. This post is the 4158th post to date and comes after her April blog post titled, Dancing Through The Decades: A Look Back at April 1924

Emma's funding comes from performing. When she’s not travelling through time she puts on shows at her local theatre. This month Emma was the lead in "Giselle", followed by an exhilarating "La Sylphide" and her signature rendition of “Swan Lake” – always a sell out, and a vital source of income for her travels. It's the magic of ballet that powers her adventures!

But her work isn't just about the shows she performs. She spends countless hours creating the most delightful and innovative choreographies, mixing traditional techniques with a unique contemporary twist, often bringing the themes of her blog posts to the stage. It is her choreographies that really grab the attention and allow her to raise the money to travel through time.

Fashion Corner:

Let's talk pink tutus! The real pink star of the show here in June 2007 is "The Red Shoes." Can you believe that a red shoe took over ballet fashion? Red was the colour everyone was talking about this month! It's bold, vibrant, and a bit of a rebel, a real ballet rebel. There's nothing better than the magic of ballet and fashion combined! I was even invited to see a showing of "The Red Shoes" in Paris. My trusty rucksack overflowed with sketches of the different costumes I saw that day!

Now, this is how we keep the fashion ball rolling in June. 2007: I am adding the bold "red shoes" to the Pink-Tutu archives as inspiration for new dresses and costumes! Maybe my next big break will come from these brilliant, fabulous red shoes. A little hint of red and the most luxurious pink tulle – I think I have a new tutu design in the works, darlings!

Shopping is Where My Heart Lies:

Shopping is the art of discovery, and June 2007, in my world of pink tutus, is a real treat! From finding a beautiful antique ballet poster in Edinburgh to picking out a delicate pearl necklace for my next trip, this June has brought new pieces of loveliness to my life. My favourite finds are always the hidden treasures tucked away in those quirky little boutiques that no one else knows about, and this month I've managed to discover a few real beauties.

Here are a couple of my June highlights:

  • Vintage Ballet Book Store I'm just about to fall in love with a new ballet bookstore I discovered in Edinburgh this June, full of forgotten treasures and dance tales. A little hidden gem – you know my kind of place!

  • Paris Couture for Pink: Paris never fails to deliver. A magical afternoon in a small boutique in the Marais yielded the most delicious pink silk scarf I've ever laid eyes on! You know, the type of silk that shimmers like sunshine, the kind of scarf you dream about, and I couldn't leave Paris without it!

My wardrobe is blooming with fresh delights – not just new tutu designs but new, gorgeous gowns for dancing in the most luxurious, fabulous ballrooms! Oh, I’m also trying out some daring new hair styles to match – perhaps a touch of cherry red in my hair with a side braid to finish it all off. A touch of rebelliousness to complement the red of the shoes – a hint of punk, perhaps? A hint of something new and edgy, to show everyone my passion for pushing the boundaries of ballet!

My love for the ballet, the vintage costumes, shopping for pretty shoes, and traveling to all these wonderful places just continues to grow and grow, dear ballet bunnies! But of course, there’s nothing quite like the joy of spreading the pink tutu message around the world, one glittering step at a time. Stay tuned next month for the next instalment of Pink-Tutu where I'll be whisking us back in time to discover the world of ballet through another pair of sparkling pink tutus! 🩰✨
