Pink-Tutu Post #4236: A December Whirl Through Time!

Hello my dearest ballet bunnies! Emma here, your trusty time-travelling tutu enthusiast, back from a whirlwind journey through history, and I have to tell you, December 2013 was simply sparkling! I wouldn't miss a month like that for all the world.

Now, as you all know, December is the month for all things festive and for a ballerina like me, it means twirling into the holiday season, embracing the glitz, glamour and of course, all things pink!

As I rode through time on Magic Meg, my shimmering pink Shire steed (with those golden hooves and white mane - just imagine!) I felt like I was in a storybook, riding into a world of snow-kissed landscapes and flickering candlelight. And speaking of candlelight, I have to tell you all about the beautiful Royal Ballet performance I saw on December 12th, 2013.

Oh, the Magic!

The Royal Opera House in London was decked out for the festive season, twinkling with festive decorations. As I took my seat, I just knew it was going to be magical! And it was. This was a real treat - they were performing "The Nutcracker," that timeless tale of magic, love, and dancing sugar plums. The ballerinas danced with such precision and grace, their tutus shimmering like fallen snowflakes under the spotlight. And as I watched, I felt like I was swept away into a world of snow, toys, and of course, my absolute favourite character, the Sugar Plum Fairy!

Don't You Just Love a Festive Season?

And the Christmas ballet fever didn't end with The Nutcracker. The world was brimming with festive performances! There was "The Sleeping Beauty" in Copenhagen, "Giselle" in Moscow, and "Swan Lake" in Vienna. It was truly a magical time for all lovers of ballet!

What a Wardrobe!

My trip wasn't all about performances. I simply had to visit the stunning world of ballet fashion! The 2013 dancewear market was bursting with innovation, and you wouldn't believe the dazzling creations I saw! There were tutu designs with glittering sequins, delicate silk fabrics that flowed like smoke, and even pointe shoes adorned with dazzling gems! I just had to grab some of those for my collection. There are no limits to my love of pink!

Ballet For All

What was wonderful to see in December 2013, and thankfully still today, is the world was embracing the beauty of ballet. There were workshops, community events, even ballet-inspired street performances! The excitement surrounding the art form was infectious, and everyone was joining in.

Sharing My Time Travel Treasures

Speaking of sharing, I always have to bring back some treasures from my adventures! This month, I’ve added a charmingly antique dance program from the Royal Opera House in my rucksack. Just imagine - those intricate details and faded ink hold within them the echoes of a past audience’s awe. I can’t wait to share these snippets of history with you on my blog, "pink-tutu.com"! Be sure to come and browse and maybe share your own time travel memories, or your favorite tutu designs - I always love to hear from you, my fellow pink-tutu enthusiasts!

Next month, my darlings, I'm travelling back to 1954 for the ballet premier of "The Sleeping Beauty"! Imagine, those original costumes and the magical first performance! I can't wait to share my discoveries with you, and to keep sharing the wonder and beauty of ballet across the centuries! Until then, remember - wear your tutus proudly and let your dreams take flight!

Much love and twirls, Emma
xx
