Pink Tutu Time Travels - Post 4246: A Ballet-Filled October 10th, 2014

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, and you know what? It's the 10th of October 2014. You might be asking, "Emma, why are we so obsessed with this date?" Well, my loves, it's because this day is brimming with ballet brilliance!

Before we delve into the excitement of the day, let's have a moment of quiet admiration for Magic Meg, my beautiful pink-sparkling Shire horse. With her golden hooves, white mane and tail that shimmers like moonlight on snow, Meg is more than just a steed, she's a partner in my time-travelling ballet adventures. And who can resist that rosy, glimmering coat that complements my own pink tutu so perfectly? Honestly, I think we make a fabulous duo!

I have to admit, time travel can be quite taxing. It's all the shopping and ballet show hopping you know! Not to mention lugging that huge, overflowing leather rucksack, filled with all my precious ballet finds from the past. But oh, darling, it's SO worth it! Today's find? A magnificent antique ballet programme from the Russian Ballet's 1918 production of "Le Sacre du Printemps!" Imagine my delight! A ballet-related item this beautiful is simply irresistible.

Back to the 10th of October, 2014!

What a sensational time to be a ballet aficionado! In London's Royal Opera House, the Bolshoi Ballet is set to perform Swan Lake! My heart flutters just thinking about the grace and beauty of those swan-like ballerinas. The story, the music, the costumes - I can almost smell the stage perfume!

And don't even get me started on the rest of the world! In the heart of the Netherlands, at the Het Nationale Ballet, there's a spellbinding performance of The Sleeping Beauty. What a magical classic, especially for a little princess like myself who always dreamt of finding my prince charming! And for those wanting a dose of modern flair, the American Ballet Theatre is staging Whipped, a contemporary masterpiece that dances between elegance and power.

But, darling, don't think we've forgotten about fashion!

In the world of ballet fashion, there is, of course, one absolute, unquestionable necessity: a fabulous pink tutu. And thankfully, this year was all about it! The London Fashion Week had a plethora of pink tutus on the catwalk - a veritable celebration of ballet's influence on haute couture! It's no surprise, truly, since a tutu, like a beautifully crafted garment, can accentuate the graceful curves of the human form and embody a touch of playful magic.

My Time-Traveling Outfit

I always strive to make sure my ballet-themed fashion speaks to the time period, even if it's just through a subtle detail. Today, my look is a timeless combination: a flowing pink tutu (it's ALWAYS the star of the show), a gorgeous lilac-patterned silk blouse, and a fluffy bolero that reminds me of the ballet dancers' beautiful warm-up attire. On my feet, of course, are some shimmering pink ballet flats โ€“ gotta be ready for those spontaneous ballet routines, right?

You see, darlings, time travel is all about exploring history through its fascinating events, its incredible people, and, most importantly, its captivating art. And what better art than the ballet, a celebration of movement, artistry, and pure, unadulterated beauty? I aim to spread the ballet love and encourage everyone, regardless of their age, to try dancing, go to a show, or at least embrace the glorious elegance of a pink tutu! After all, why be ordinary when you can be fabulous?

Until next time, my loves, let's all wear a pink tutu!

With love,

Emma,
