Pink Tutu Travels: A Dash of History on October 10th, 2015! 🩰✨💖

Hello my darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu enthusiast, and welcome to post number 4258 of Pink Tutu Travels, where we waltz through history in a swirl of tulle and time! It’s a new month, and that means another thrilling time travel escapade with my magnificent steed, Magic Meg! This pink-sparkling Shire with the golden hooves and flowing white mane just loves a good gallop through the ages, so hop on, darlings, we're going for a ride!

October 10th, 2015 – The World of Ballet on the Horizon

Ooh, a big day for ballet! If you're reading this post in the year 2023, you might be surprised to learn that ballet lovers were on the edge of their seats ten years ago. It was the day The Royal Ballet unveiled their new Romeo and Juliet, choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon! Talk about a ballet history highlight! I remember seeing it in the news - the London critics were raving! And I’m definitely making a note to time-travel back and experience the magic for myself. A dramatic, passionate tale with timeless music by Prokofiev – pure enchantment!

Emma's Fashion Diary

I think we need to discuss fashion for a moment, darlings! 2015…oh my, I must say I am absolutely loving the vintage flair this decade brings. Think bold colours, swirling fabrics, and daring cuts! I was on a bit of a fashion shopping spree before my jaunt into the past, adding some vintage 70s flair to my tutu wardrobe. (Just imagine: shimmering gold and green silk against a backdrop of ruby velvet - absolutely divine!) I just adore the way 70s fashion blends that delicate, romantic feminine with a splash of bold colour, and there’s an undeniable resemblance to the spirit of classical ballet. Think bold and dramatic - the ultimate way to make a statement on stage!

On My Back: Treasures of History

Now, my fabulous rucksack has been playing the part of a history collector this time. I'm bursting with treasures to share from my little trip! I grabbed a charming vintage ballet programme from The Royal Ballet's archive - Giselle! It’s covered in delightful drawings and, well, it simply adds another dimension to the timeless classic. Oh, and speaking of Giselle, did you know that this enchanting ballet debuted in 1841? Time flies, doesn’t it! My darling rucksack also found me a 1950s fashion magazine with sketches of graceful ballet costumes and an essay on the evolving role of ballet fashion. Simply stunning, darlings!

To the Saddle, My Dearest!

It’s time to mount my steed, Magic Meg, and head into the mists of time, darlings. Keep those tutu ribbons fluttering and your eyes open for more ballet adventures from the past. We’ll be back soon with a new journey! Until next month, keep those toes pointed and spirits bright. 💖

Love always,

Emma xx
