Pink-Tutu.com Post #4266: June 2016 - A Ballet Blitz Through Time!

Hello lovelies! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet where dreams dance and tutus take flight! This month, we're jetting back in time, and boy, is it a whirlwind! I'm wearing my most fabulous, fluffiest pink tutu (naturally!), because we're heading to… well, let's just say 2016 was quite the ballet buzz, shall we?

June, eh? It feels like yesterday I was a little girl in Derbyshire, gazing up at the stars and dreaming of dancing like a prima ballerina! Oh, the magic of those early dreams! Fast forward a few years, and thanks to the wonders of magic Meg - my trusty pink sparkling Shire steed with those dazzling golden hooves and a flowing white mane - we're on a time-travelling adventure!

Now, remember how I mentioned 2016 was quite the year? Well, my darling dancers, it's overflowing with excitement! Let me take you on a journey through this dazzling year in ballet:

Royal Ballet Revelry in London!

First stop: London, the heart of the ballet world! The Royal Opera House was buzzing with energy. It seems June saw a fabulous premiere of Woolf Works, a modern ballet masterpiece that was as captivating as a fairytale! My trusty leather rucksack filled with ballet souvenirs felt heavier than usual with all the Woolf Works program notes and gorgeous flyers.

But that wasn’t all! The Royal Ballet was celebrating the world premiere of The Dante Project, a modern work by Wayne McGregor. Oh my, what a dream! I just had to nab some exclusive merchandise from the Covent Garden shop, like a little Dante Project poster and a charmingly decorated notebook to write my ballet impressions in!

New York's Ballet Blitz!

Next stop, across the pond! New York City! It's known for its fast pace, and the ballet scene certainly wasn't slowing down in June 2016! The New York City Ballet hosted a mesmerizing production of Swan Lake, that iconic fairytale ballet I could never get enough of. What a perfect combination of classic choreography and the beauty of the human form, wasn’t it? My trusty pink rucksack got quite a workout, stuffed full of gorgeous Swan Lake brochures!

A Peek at the Past:

I couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia while revisiting 2016! The excitement, the joy, the sheer spectacle of it all - the world of ballet has a unique way of pulling you right into its heart, doesn't it? As I sat in the balcony of a grand London theater taking in a matinee performance of Cinderella, I felt so happy and humbled to be a part of the vibrant ballet history.

Fashion Fantasies: From Ballerina to Everyday Queen!

I, for one, adore ballet fashion. What could be more magical than swirling tutus, satin slippers, and a dash of pink? I am sure that if you are like me, the pink tutu trend in 2016 was your favorite. We could literally live in them - imagine! Imagine my surprise as I was shopping on a jaunty London shopping trip, I came across the most adorable boutique stuffed with the cutest little pink tutus for the ballet-loving young and old! Well, I had to indulge, obviously! Each tutu came with the most perfect pink satin ribbon and a sparkling diamond clip.

I am obsessed! Now, all that’s left to do is persuade my best friend to join my campaign to bring ballet back into everyday wear!

On the Quest to Get Everyone in a Pink Tutu!

This little endeavor of mine to encourage everyone to embrace the world of ballet, and of course, to put a pink tutu on everyone in the process, isn't about some high-minded ideal or anything serious like that! It's really about fun, a joyful approach to embracing life and beauty in all its glorious forms, as expressed through dance.

You've all been such great sports on my journey, but have you noticed just how many people seem unaware of the wonder of ballet? I don’t understand it! They are really missing out. But this year I really felt the need to do my bit to change things! The pink tutu, with all its charm and loveliness, it's just the tool I need to open people’s eyes! They see a ballet dancer in a beautiful tutu and think "That is beautiful!” The first step on the journey. Now to just get them to put a pink tutu on, then perhaps, just perhaps, they will understand that there is a world of beauty and wonder hidden in the world of ballet and its inspiring history.

Remember, every journey starts with a single step, so embrace your inner ballerina and get twirling!

Keep it Pink and Twirl on! Love Emma!

Postscript

Oh! Before I sign off, did I mention my leather rucksack got so filled up during my time travels that I had to leave some things behind? I have an amazing photo collection I’ll be posting next week, with pictures from the ballet shows in June of 2016. A collection of ballet programs, a lovely silk dance scarf, a few magazine cuttings. I’ve even got an autographed picture from a ballerina I watched perform. I've decided that some ballet items are just too precious to sell! They're coming with me on my next trip!

Until next time my darlings!

Emma
