Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed time traveller! As always, I'm absolutely thrilled to share another snippet of our journey through ballet history with you, and this month, my lovely, we're taking a trip back to 7th July, 2016!
Now, picture this: the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and my trusty pink sparkly steed, Magic Meg, is pawing the ground impatiently. I’ve got my trusty leather rucksack filled with enough ballet paraphernalia to stock a small shop – my pink tutu is perfectly preened, my heart's beating with excitement. It’s time for another adventure!
First things first, let’s have a peek at the world of ballet on this date. There was a rather lovely performance of Swan Lake by the Mariinsky Ballet at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg – the home of Russian ballet brilliance, you know. You can just imagine the beautiful sets, the graceful swans and the majestic Prince. I bet there wasn’t a single soul in the audience who wasn't completely captivated. Oh, and don't forget to have a good long gaze at the exquisite costumes – pure magic!
Over in America, the New York City Ballet were keeping things busy with their own season of spectacular performances – you simply can’t go wrong with them! It’s always a delight to witness the talent of this incredible troupe, with their passion and dedication truly shining through.
But my dear readers, ballet is not just for grand theatres and glamorous gala nights – the ballet fever was alive and kicking in countless studios and rehearsal spaces across the globe. Imagine: sweaty, happy faces, delicate leaps, perfectly pointed toes, and all those delightful twirls! Now that’s what I call a ballet dream come true!
Now, imagine me – your glamorous, tutu-clad time traveler - gracefully striding through this bustling ballet world of 2016. Perhaps I popped in for a quick pirouette class in London, had a chinwag with a couple of seasoned dancers in Paris, and even managed to squeeze in a spectacular ballet performance in Milan before taking Magic Meg for a well-deserved canter across the moonlit countryside.
This kind of journey, you see, requires an extensive knowledge of all things ballet – which, of course, is why I’m so happy to share my discoveries with you all through my Pink-Tutu blog. Every little detail, from the intricate footwork to the magnificent stage costumes, to the rich history of the art form – it's all just too exciting to keep to myself!
Speaking of exquisite costumes, I managed to snaffle a rather stunning pair of ballet shoes from a shop in the heart of London. They were delicate, soft pink, and the most perfect shade to match my tutu, don't you think? I tucked them safely away in my trusty leather rucksack, to be added to my ever-growing collection of ballet treasures.
Each month, when I return from my little trip, I gather all the memories, snippets of ballet history and delightful ballet trinkets and present them to you, my dear readers! It is, after all, a chance to celebrate the world of ballet – and isn’t that truly what this little blog is all about?
Well, my darlings, I’m afraid I must bid you adieu for now! Magic Meg and I have an appointment to attend, you know. This time, we are heading off to the Royal Opera House in London. But don’t worry – I will be back soon with another dazzling installment of my ballet-filled adventures!
Until next time, stay glamorous, keep on dreaming, and of course… keep wearing pink tutus!
Love, Emma
