Pink Tutu Time Travels: 10th October, 2016! (Post 4270)

Hello lovelies! It's Emma, your favourite Derbyshire ballerina blogger, here. Ready for a time travelling adventure? This month, Magic Meg and I are galloping back to… 10th October 2016! Buckle up your pink tutus, darlings, because we're going to explore the incredible world of ballet on this exciting date!

It's all about "being fabulous, darling", as I like to say! My sparkly, pink tutu is feeling particularly sassy today, don't you think?

The 10th of October in 2016 was just bursting with beautiful ballet moments. Just imagine… I can almost hear the tinkling of bells, the hush of anticipation as the curtain rises. And wouldn't it have been divine to twirl amidst all the magical ballet excitement?

What Was Happening in Balletland?

On the 10th October, 2016, the international ballet scene was positively buzzing!

Across the pond, New York City Ballet was hosting a glittering Gala Opening Night of their fall season! My imagination is positively going into overdrive thinking about all those amazing costumes. Did you know the New York Times reported that a stunning costume for a Balanchine ballet piece featuring a tulle tutu and hundreds of sparkling diamonds took a whopping six weeks to design?! Imagine the creative genius!

Let's hop on over to London's Royal Opera House, shall we? That night was a special gala opening night of "Giselle". Oh darling! That enchanting story - I love Giselle, she is the embodiment of elegance! Can you just imagine the hauntingly beautiful dance of the Wilis? This performance featured Natalia Osipova, one of the most incredible ballerinas I've ever seen - I mean, who wouldn't be thrilled to have the pleasure of seeing her perform in a live "Giselle"?

Oh, the ballet fashion on this date was simply divine. I can just picture it - those delicate, billowing tutus and flowing costumes… My rucksack is already calling for those stories. Did you know, that very same night, the Royal Ballet held an exclusive fashion party with Burberry? Oh my! I can't even imagine, all those fabulous dancers and gorgeous ballet and couture clothes, a truly iconic night in the ballet world.

And if you think that was all, you’re in for a treat! Back in my homeland, a stunning ballet performance called "The Red Shoes" was making its premiere at the wonderful Buxton Opera House, a jewel of Derbyshire's theatre scene! A truly delightful production about passion for ballet, inspired by the classic film of the same name, "The Red Shoes".

Oh my darling, those gorgeous dance shoes - just looking at them gives me a pang of longing to twirl myself.

Dancing Through the Past With Magic Meg

So, you can imagine, Magic Meg and I were quite busy. We bounced from New York to London and finally to our beautiful Derbyshire, watching, learning and adding memories to my rucksack! Imagine all the stories I collected - the elegant designs, the dramatic storylines, the captivating dancers!

Now, I’m already preparing for next month’s time travel adventure. Can you guess where we'll be whisked off to by Magic Meg’s pink magic? Let me know your guesses! And don't forget to wear your pink tutus – everyone looks radiant in them!

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
