Hello darlings, and welcome to post number 4296 on my little corner of the internet - Pink-Tutu.com! I'm your favourite time-travelling ballerina, Emma, and this month, we're embarking on a trip back to the 12th of December, 2018. Buckle up, my loves, because it's going to be a real pink-tutu-ful adventure!
As you know, I always fund my time travels with the power of dance. Earlier this month, I graced the stage of the Buxton Opera House in a spectacular rendition of Swan Lake. The audience were mesmerised, giving me a standing ovation and, even better, showering me with generous donations that have ensured this month's magical journey is a reality!
With the magical, sparkling shimmer of my trusty steed, Meg, filling the stables with light, I saddled up, my pink tutu shimmering like a rose-gold sunrise, ready to whisk us away to the world of ballet, as it was all those years ago!
December 12th, 2018: A World of Dance Awakes
The crisp December air brushed past my face as Meg galloped into the past. And what a delightful time it was!
On this date, the world of ballet was absolutely buzzing, a whirlwind of talent and grace:
Royal Opera House, London: The Royal Ballet were captivating audiences with The Nutcracker, the holiday season favourite! Now, I'm no stranger to this ballet, having seen countless performances. It always transports me to a world of whimsical enchantment, full of twinkling lights, candy canes, and snowflakes swirling around my toes! The December 12th performance was sure to be full of magic!
American Ballet Theatre: Across the pond in the Big Apple, the American Ballet Theatre were delighting their audiences with Giselle. The timeless story of love, betrayal, and the beautiful, mystical wilis, I always find a performance of Giselle to be both emotionally charged and technically superb.
Paris Opera Ballet: In the city of lights, The Paris Opera Ballet was staging a production of Romeo and Juliet. Talk about romance! And you know, nothing beats seeing Romeo and Juliet in Paris - the passion, the sweeping gestures, and the beautifully choreographed duels…all simply magnifique!
Stepping into the Past, With Pink Tutu Flair!
Armed with my leather rucksack, I always try to collect treasures and stories from the past - like an honorary curator for the pink tutu museum of the future, if you will! On this trip, I managed to pick up a beautifully illustrated copy of "The Ballerina's Guide to Fashion". And you'll never believe it! - It was full of tips on creating your own, perfectly unique, pink tutu! It felt like fate - after all, every ballerina needs a touch of pink in her wardrobe!
And speaking of fashion, it was an absolute delight to see all the stylish dancers and ballet enthusiasts in their finest attire.
The ballerina buns: Every time I time travel, I love to observe the evolution of the ballet bun - it’s the iconic ballerina hairstyle, so classic, elegant, and graceful.
The leotard trends: I found some gorgeous, modern, bright-pink leotards, perfect for adding a pop of colour to your ballet practice or performance. The styles are becoming increasingly more daring, bold and innovative, pushing boundaries for performance art.
The shoes: My feet simply swooned over the the new-age shoes in those vintage dance stores, the soft leather, the delicate laces, it was a dance-lover’s paradise! It just makes me love and cherish those wonderful shoes we wear on stage.
And did I tell you? The pink tutu is as big a craze in 2018 as it is in any other era!
Pink tutu ballet performances - From professional productions to local amateur groups, there was a wide array of shows showcasing the graceful elegance of a pink tutu. You see, this vibrant colour embodies femininity, confidence, and joy!
- Pink tutu dance classes - The dance studios were alive with aspiring ballerinas gracefully learning new routines. Every day they would leap, pirouette, and twirl in a multitude of dazzling shades of pink. It’s something that brings together a sense of community. We all love to twirl, especially in our perfect shade of pink.
Pink tutu shopping spree! - It's safe to say I was in shopping paradise! The most fabulous boutiques in Paris, London, and New York were full of stylish dancewear for the ballerina in every girl. My luggage became even more filled with my new pink finds, from delicate tutus to fluffy pashminas, even some very vintage looking ballerina shoes!
A Heart Full of Pink and Dreams
I rode home with a full heart, soothed by the quiet trot of my loyal horse, Meg, and the memories of a truly pink-tutu-ful journey! You know, even when time travels are tough, I come back to the simplicity of my pink tutu and all those memories - it really does feel like magic.
